User :   I just had blood work done and my fasting blood sugar level was 133. I am an African-American male, 62 years old, non-smoker, non-drinker and I subscribe to a vegetarian diet. My triglyceride level is at 173, my cholesterol level is 173 as well. My BMI is within normal range for my height. I have been experiencing a sharp, needle-like pain in my ankle area for the past 3 years and I have noticed that my blook sugar level has increased each year. Am I diabetic?
Doctor :   Hi,
User :   hello
Doctor :   YOu have to get a FBS ( fasting blood sugar ) and a PPBS (post prandial blood sugar) done on same day
Doctor :   this test will help to rule out diabetes
User :   What is an PPBS?
Doctor :   post food , i mean 1 hour after food
User :   OK, this will tell me what, exactly?
Doctor :   yes,
User :   What, then, should be a normal number. Is it an average of the two?
Doctor :   no, there is reference range for both
Doctor :   FBS not more than 140 and ppbs not more than 180
User :   OK, thanks. I will get the PPBS
