User :   Can hookworms affect lymph nodes?
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   Hook worm infestation can cause lymph nodes to enlarge when it infests the gut
User :   Hello
Doctor :   But Hook worm do not directly get into the lymph nodes
Doctor :   I mean if you cut open the lymph nodes, you would not see a hook worm
Doctor :   Did you follow what I say?
User :   I traveled to Monte XXXXXXXX in Nov 2010 & have been sick ever since. I have had e coli, h plorie, and have symtoms of hookworms. Have been treated with herbs and seems to be improving but lymph nodes at arms ache & in past were swollen. Have been extremely heathly until traveling abroad.
Doctor :   Ok, herbs may not help in killing the above bacteria
Doctor :   and even though the bacteria are killed it takes much longer time for the swollen lymph nodes to reduce in size
User :   Lymph node aches at times in groin also but not as bad as arms.
Doctor :   Yes
Doctor :   You need a course of antibiotics for a couple of weeks to help
Doctor :   from this situation
Doctor :   Please see a local doctor for the course
User :   What kind?
Doctor :   Primary physician
Doctor :   or even a RN
Doctor :   YOur problem is simple and easily treatable
Doctor :   Your delay has complicated this
User :   Took 2 different kinds of antibiotics for 7 & 10 days.
Doctor :   further
Doctor :   What did the doctor say about it?
Doctor :   What is your age and gender?
User :   56 female
Doctor :   What did the doctor say about it?
Doctor :   What were the antibiotics taken?
User :   Removed gallbladder but symptoms continued. Had to insist after 3 office visits that something was wrong. He took urine sample. Gave antibiotics for e coli but did not get rid until I took Chinese herbs.
Doctor :   Were Antihelminths not given for hook worm
Doctor :   Hook worm is treated with different drugs called Albendazoles
Doctor :   Did you understand?
User :   Described symptoms of severe acid reflux to a friend who is food formulator and is the one who said I probably had h plorie and suggested I take cayenne pepper which took care of it.
Doctor :   Gastritiis can be caused by H Pylori
User :   Was disappointed that so many tests were done and gallbladder removed unneccessarily so went to herbalist. Great improvement in 3 days. Took herbs for 2 weeks and all symptoms went away but obviously did not take them long enough to take care of eggs. Herbalist said they saw I had parasites but did not know what kind. I researched and from symptoms and coughing, I feel I have hookworms and saw signs in stool after taking herbs but was wondering if hookworms can cause my lymph nodes to ache.
Doctor :   Yes Chronic hook worm infestation can cause lymph nodes to enlarge
Doctor :   as I told you
Doctor :   And the lymph nodes enlarge as a reaction
User :   Ok
Doctor :   Same way, it takes some time for the lymph nodes to reduce in size after the hook worms are killed
Doctor :   Make sure you eat nutritious diet
Doctor :   rich in cereals, fruit, Veggies and diary products
Doctor :   Eat boiled meat only
Doctor :   No raw veggies or meat
Doctor :   Everything should be cooked and eated
Doctor :   eaten
User :   Why only boiled? I only eat cooked meat, usually grilled. Eat mostly fish. No sugars, breads or alcohol.
Doctor :   Boiling is above 100 degree centigrade which kills all the cysts and eggs
Doctor :   Grilled may not
Doctor :   Once a person has worm infestation and not treated completely they may recur if the still have undercooked food
User :   Ok.
User :   Are there any other parasites that cause occasional coughing?
Doctor :   yes
Doctor :   Pin work, Strongyloides, Lung fluke
Doctor :   *pin worm
User :   Do these also cause swelling of lymph nodes?
Doctor :   yes
