User :   Hi
User :   Hi I have a complexing situation, where I've been diagnosed with Lyme disease and has caused a host of other problems..
User :   but I want to focus right now on... Adrenal, Thyroid, HPA.. and skin and hair loss
User :   Im sorry to know that
User :   It's ok, Im being treated with several antibiotics
User :   ok
User :   But, I still have dramatic hair loss, and skin issues
User :   My biggest question is why I have a problem taking DHT inhibitors
User :   has your doctor, told that all these issues are due to lyme disease as well?
User :   I've tried Finasteride and feel nausea from it, Saw Palmetto made my skin so brittle it would break open and bleed with a slight scratch
User :   even Zinc causes chest pains
User :   or do u have multiple medical conditions ?
User :   My case is Lyme disease, Bartonella henselae and Babasia Duncani
User :   most medications have some minor or major side effects
User :   I've been losing hair long before I started any major medications
User :   As far as I understand, Lyme has a serious effect on the HPA and adrenals
User :   thyroid in some as well
User :   may i know your age, weight height and occupation , also the pattern of hair loss as well ?
User :   but what I found really unusual was my intolerance to DHT inhibtors
User :   please let me know your TSH lvels if available ?
User :   27 yo, 170lbs and unemployed because of lyme.
User :   TSH was around 2.5
User :   so thats within range
User :   yep, even tried a trial of armour and felt hyperthyroid symptoms
User :   doc, can u tell me what regulates DHT?
User :   why would I have a problem with inhibitors?
User :   DHT is a hormone derevative from testosterone
User :   a hormone in the adrenal converts it to DHT , which acts on various receptors
User :   a-hah so it all starts with adrenal malfunction
User :   so u basically have nausea with DHT inhibitors ?
User :   yeah, nausea and brain fog.. i can't think clearly at all
User :   but that's the stuff that's supposed to save my hair :[
User :   DHT inhibitors block the activity of the hormones that caus male pattern baldness
User :   i dont have male pattern baldness.. i know because i was on prednisolone which caused my hair to regrow..
User :   after speaking to a doctor, he said that only happens if its from an infection and reducing the inflammation, or from temp fixing the adrenal issue
User :   But to reduce the nausea, you can have some pepcid or prilosec which can help u
User :   so your doc feels that you may be having some chonic inflammatory condition thats causing the hair loss ?
User :   either inflammation or adrenal issues.
User :   thanks for the suggestion, but Im more interesting in understand and fixing why I can't handle the DHT inhibitors
User :   have u got any assay of adrenal hormones ?
User :   No, please tell me more.. I would love to understand what test I can do to find out everything about my adrenals
User :   the adrenal gland produces a lot of hormones , which regulate a lot of bodily functions
User :   i would like you to get Serum testosterone levels
User :   is that only test i should get?
User :   and a adrenal ulttrasound test
User :   great, ultrasound will tell me everything? right? do i need an endocronlogist for that?
User :   this will detemine us, if there is any issues with adrenal function
User :   no
User :   your GP can get it done for u
User :   Great :) i wish you could write me a referral too hehe
User :   Thank you so much, so those 2 tests will tell me if I have a problem with the adrenals.. otherwise its inflammation still.. correct?
User :   yes
User :   thats right
User :   ok, you've been a big help, and im out of time.. so thanks again.. have a good day
User :   u too
