User :   hi
Doctor :   hi
Doctor :   Dr. XXXXXXXX here.
Doctor :   please proceed with your health query
User :   my son had fever last sunday n temp was 99.6
Doctor :   ok
User :   we gav him ( 15 month old ) crocin 6ml
Doctor :   ok
User :   but within 5 minutes he got converstion
Doctor :   does he have any other symptoms?
User :   this was happend 5th time ( happend twice on last saturday)
Doctor :   if the temperature is high, then children tend to get convulsions
Doctor :   do not ignore this, in the next bout of fever take him to emergency
Doctor :   continue to give him Crocin syrup as advised 3-4 times a day when he is having fever
User :   the symptoms are shivering and eye ball went up and downs
Doctor :   ok.
User :   we checked docs couple of times n said this is because of high temperature
User :   and they termed as " febrile seizure"
User :   but i have serious concern on this since its happd 5 times in 3 months span
Doctor :   yes, the symptoms he is getting are febrile seizures
Doctor :   they should be adequately controled
Doctor :   to avoid getting converted to seizure disorder.
User :   pls tel me
User :   do u suggest to go for any test
Doctor :   he needs to be observed and a 'anti seizure' medication should be prescribed to be given at start of fever along with crocin syrup
Doctor :   to avoid teh febrile seizure episode
Doctor :   they usually tend to subside after 5 years of age
Doctor :   no a detailed examination and consultation with his pediatrician is fine.
Doctor :   with discussion and preventive measures, medications for febrile seizure
User :   he is first child for us
Doctor :   since he has had happened 5 times
User :   am not all happy doctor and am not able to concentrate my work and other activities
Doctor :   you ned to be strong, it is not a disease, it can be controlled
Doctor :   but it needs proper attention
Doctor :   and adequate treatment
User :   i wanted to check with neuro specialist
User :   pls guide me
User :   doctor also said when temperature goes high he get convulsion
Doctor :   ok. you can consult with them , but at this stage it will not be necessary, all you need to do is control his fever well, and the seizure will not happen
Doctor :   yes what the doctor said was true, highh temperature causes abnormal signals in brain, leading to convulsions
Doctor :   so if temperature is controlled, then this will not happen
Doctor :   start with tepid sponging when fever starts
Doctor :   along with teh medication use
Doctor :   discuss with his prediatrician about geting him started on anti seizure medication at begining of fever
User :   my worry is we checked the tmperature it was only 99.6 then it happd suddenly
User :   we always do that only ( sponging in lukewarm water)
Doctor :   yes above 100 it can happen, since it was only 99.6, it will not take time to reach 100
Doctor :   ok, continue to do it
Doctor :   focus on discussing about the medication use
Doctor :   how many times a day do you give him crocin syrup?
Doctor :   consider ruling out any meningeal infections, if the convulsions continue.
User :   he got fever suddenly without cold, caugh nothing was there
Doctor :   ok, then it is likely to be viral infections
User :   we gave him crocin 5-6 hours gap
User :   the other day we gave him 5 times after that fever contrlld
User :   now he is ok
User :   he playing as usual
Doctor :   ok. you can give him crocin every 6-8 hours depending on fever
Doctor :   but get a repeat consultation done
Doctor :   either with his pediatrician or a neurologist
User :   ok
User :   so u advising me to meet pediatrician
User :   but the thing is all the time pediatrician said
User :   very strongly this is b'coz of high temperature
Doctor :   febrile seizures are due to high fever /temperature
User :   also we had some family history as well
Doctor :   you have to look for solution now since the cause is already known.
User :   my father in law had the same problem
Doctor :   ok. could you describe his problem in detail?
User :   i discussed with in law who said the problem occurred only till age of 4 yrs and
User :   he had the same symptoms as told by his monther
Doctor :   yes febrile seizures tend to go away after 5 years of age as i have said earlier
User :   can u pls give me any strong advise
User :   am checked with homeopathy doctor as well who said may be b'coz of very less resistance power
User :   is there any medication to build his body resistance power
User :   otherwise he is very normal and active
Doctor :   since he is a normally active child, you do not need to worry much, just go ahead with proper temperature control and repeat discussion with his pediatrician about the medication use
Doctor :   if his pediatrician is not giving much attention, then consider seeing another pediatrician with good experience
Doctor :   if the cause is found to be anything else other than the febrile seizure, then he will need a neurology opinion
User :   actualy am in dilemma no one is there to guid me
Doctor :   follow the above mentioned steps
Doctor :   your son will be fine.
User :   ok i got ur point
Doctor :   be strong, it is not a disease, it can be controlled
User :   sure
User :   thanks for ur advise
Doctor :   is there anything else I can help you with?
User :   otherwise nothing doctor
User :   once again thanks to you
Doctor :   thanks for consulting me. bye for now.
User :   i will get back you very soon
User :   bye doctor
Doctor :   sure, you can get back to me if you have further queries
Doctor :   bye
