User :   Hi my daughter is 3 years old and has a fever. She complains that her head hurts and everytime she wakes up to complain about her head hurting she throws up. Should I take her to the ER or can I do or give her something over the counter

Doctor :   is teh vomiting sensation or vomiting worse with aggravation of headache?
Doctor :   is she vomiting all of a sudden, or is she feeling the sensation first and then vomiting?
User :   Well she will start crying and saying her head hurts and couple minutes later she vomits
Doctor :   ok. the symptom that you are describing does suggest rise in intracranial pressure and resultant vomiting.
Doctor :   how many episodes has she had?
User :   2
Doctor :   have you measured temperature? if yes please provide the value.
Doctor :   what does the vomitus contain? what is the color of it?
User :   I tried to. I had it under her arm and she moved away before it was done it was at 99.6 at that time when she pulled away

Doctor :   is she having any other symptoms associated?
Doctor :   is there abdominal discomfort, pain, loose stools?
User :   Mostly water. I've been trying to have her drink water
Doctor :   is there runny nose, cough associated?
User :   I gave her tylenol .08
User :   no abdominal discomfort and no loose stool
User :   she is coughing

Doctor :   ok. it will not help her if she continues to vomit.
User :   Should I give her pedialyte
Doctor :   get her to the ER for a check, and control of vomiting and headaches. it will also help via examination to rule out raised intracranial pressure
Doctor :   yes you can give her Pedialyte it will keep her hydrated
User :   what exactly is intracranial pressure
Doctor :   it is raised pressure inside skull bone
User :   Is it an emergency that I have to take her right away or can it wait till tomorrow. Right now she is sleeping and does not have a fever
Doctor :   if she is fine, you can wait until tomorrow to check with her pediatrician. let her sleep

User :   raised pressure inside skull bone? Is that the same as headache
Doctor :   no, diferent than that, all headaches do not result in vomiting
User :   And what cause her to have these raised pressure inside skull bone. food, weather, ???
Doctor :   when pressure is raised inside skull bone, it is accompanied with headache and pressure on vomiting center, resulting in vomiting.
Doctor :   it could be food, infection, continuous cough and resultant increase in pressure.
