User :   My doctor prescribed me Lexapro 10mg and Xanax .25 mg. I am now on my 5th day. I have taken one Xanax a day so far at around 2pm when needed. It is now 8:50pm and I am experiencing anxiety that will make it very difficult to sleep. I drank one cup of chamomile tea. Is it okay to take 1 .25 mg Xanax right now so I can get to sleep easily tonight?
Doctor :   hi
User :   Hey
Doctor :
give me 2 minutes to read
User :   Alright
User :   oh.. the reason i'm prescribed those things is for treatment of anxiety, mainly panic attacks that have recently been occurring during sleep onset, but also for just high levels of anxiety in general
Doctor :
who prescribed these drugs for u?
User :   my doctor
Doctor :   he asked u to take xanax only once a day?
User :   no, he had told me that the side effects of lexapro could cause increased anxiety levels, so that if i felt that i was having high anxiety i could take a xanax
Doctor :
whats ur age/sex?
User :   23/m
Doctor :   xanax is not prescribed by ur doctor?
User :   it is prescribed by him
User :   both the lexapro and the xanax were prescribed
Doctor :
what is the dosage he has prescrbed?
User :   .25 mg
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :
how many times per day?
User :   it says 3 times as needed, i've only taken it once a day in the past 5 days
User :   i want to keep it to a minimum to prevent the possibility of dependence
Doctor :
yes the usual dosage is 0.25 to 0.5 mg per day for three times per day
Doctor :
but ur doctor dint tell u how mant times to take per day?
User :   he told me that if i was feeling a strong wave of anxiety that it was alright to take one
User :   but he didn't say a specific amount of times a day, the label on the bottle does say three as needed however
Doctor :
these anxiety drugs should be taken only on prescription
User :   he wrote me a prescription for it, it is a prescription
User :   he told me to take it when needed
Doctor :
ok
User :   i went to cvs and picked it up
Doctor :
then u can take it .
User :   is it alright to take after drinking chamomile tea?
User :   i'm not going to be driving or anything
Doctor :
but dosage should not be increased more than 0.5 mg and not more than three times per day
Doctor :
its fine u can take it'
User :   i had read that the effects may be increased with certain herbs such as chamomile
Doctor :
there is nothing like that ,it is an medicinal herb
Doctor :   there is no evidence as it is an ayurvedic medicine .but there is no harm in taking it either

User :   alright, also the onset sleep panic attacks, they haven't been very bad except for the first time, i've had 3 since then that were very minor but prevent sleep. usually only when attempting to take a nap. it is unlikely that it is sleep apnea correct?
User :   due to my age, never snoring, and a history of anxiety attacks.
User :   i have talked to my doctor about this, would like to hear a second opinion as well
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :
what are ur symptoms?
User :   after about 45 minutes of laying down just as sleep is about to begin i feel as if i can not breath and a rush comes over me
Doctor :
ok
User :   the first time i was very confused and anxious, the latter times i sort of knew what may have been going on and so was just very anxious
Doctor :   ok

User :   drinking water and splashing water over my face stopped the first one. the reason i ask is because this type of panic attack differs from my usual
User :   i usually get tingly arms, tingly legs, and very out of it, but these sleep ones have been different
Doctor :
0k
Doctor :   did u go for any chest xray?
User :   i had an echocardiogram when i was 17, i'm 23 now
User :   i've always had a slightly irregular beat from time to time, but everything else was normal
Doctor :
what was the report?
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :   what is the echo report?
User :   i'm not sure what you mean, they found that everything with me was normal
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :   do u have pounding heart beat?
Doctor :
Do you experience sudden, unexpected attacks of heart-pounding panic?
User :   sometimes i experience palpatations when having a panic attack, but yes my heart does beat fairly fast when having a bad anxiety attack, i've had about 3 of those
Doctor :   ok
User :   it doesn't do it during the sleep onset panic though
Doctor :
irritability?
Doctor :
restlesness?
Doctor :
Trouble concentrating?
User :   yes during the panic
User :   after the panic i'm just restless until i can focus on something
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :
then this is defnetly anxiety disorder
Doctor :   themedicine prescribe by ur doctor are good
User :   caffeine also gives me palpatations, so i avoid that and other stimulants
Doctor :
u continue with those medications
Doctor :
ok
User :   yeah
Doctor :
nothing to worry
User :   i was fairly confident it is the right combination, glad to have a second opinion
Doctor :
u will be fine ,take those drugs regularly
User :   alright, well i suppose that is all of the advice i need, its much appreciated
Doctor :
