User :   I accidentally pricked my finger from the needle of my fathers insulin pen a few drops of blood came out. Will I get infected with blood borne diseases?
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   May I know your age?
User :   25
Doctor :   If the needle is contaminated, there are chances of transmission, but
Doctor :   If the pen is used only by your father and he has not infection, then you the chances would be less to almost nil.
Doctor :   May I know when was the last time, your father had used the pen?
User :   just before the accidental pricking
Doctor :   Does your father have any infections, like hepatitis, HIV?
User :   I dont Know, but i knew he had some relationships few years back
Doctor :   I would suggest you to get HIV elisa and HbsAg, HCV antigen test on your father.
User :   Now he seems to be not infected with any kind of STDs
Doctor :   If those test are negative, then you would not get infections.
Doctor :   Have you followed?
User :   i dont get it
Doctor :   I shall explain it to you again.
Doctor :   The chances of you being infected are less.
Doctor :   But if the needle was contaminated with the infectious organism from your dad, then there are chances of infection.
Doctor :   Hence I would suggest you to get those test.
User :   whether needle pricking alone is suffice to infect or injection is required
Doctor :   Needle prick injuries can transmit the infection.
Doctor :   The chances of transmission is less if the needle did not have blood before you were pricked.
User :   alright but he seems to be not infected all these years!
User :   his health has not deterioted
Doctor :   If you absolutely sure, that he is not infected then it is fine, you would not be infected.
Doctor :   Have you followed?
