Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   Tell me
User :   hi my name is XXXXXXXX and i was diagnosed with tonsillitis on monday and have been taking penicillen since monday but im still in as much pain now as i was in the beginning of the week and my symtoms have not got any better is there a chance it could be glandular fever as i get toncillitus about 4 times a year?
Doctor :   For Administrative and health purposes, Please provide these details -Age: Gender: Occupation: Location: Marital Status: Dependants: Yes/No
User :   Age: 19 Gender: female Occupation: customer service Marital status! single Dependent: none
Doctor :   there is a possibility that your infection of the tonsils are now resistant to Penicillins and hence you are not being relieved of the Symptoms..
User :   so what would you suggest?
Doctor :   Get the PUS from the Tonsils tested i the Lab for Culture and Sensitivity and then based on the report take the medications and then
Doctor :   at the earliest possible time go in for the Surgery..
User :   do you think it could be glandular fever?
Doctor :   that will be it make sure that you do not have Peritonsillar abscess also that again is resistant to treatment.
Doctor :   no i would not suspect since Penicillin resistance is more commoner..
User :   is Peritonsillar abscess somthing serious?
Doctor :   no its just that the infection from the tonsils has spread to the surrounding tissues and requires aextensive treatment..
User :   ok so would you suggest that i make an appointment with my gp?
Doctor :   Wit the ENT surgeon will be the better appointment since he will be the most correct person.
User :   what does the surgery involve?
Doctor :   Removal of the Tonsils will be required since you have been having repeated infections.
Doctor :   hence ENT Surgeon will be the person that you have to consult in this regard.
User :   and after the surgery would it require a lot of time to be taken off work?
Doctor :   no..
Doctor :   May be some dietary changes that you will need to make else you can do your normal routine activities as normal.
Doctor :   Please fill this Feed back form I send, while I type the necessary information, say done when done.
User :   so really surgery is the only option?
Doctor :   Yes it will be essential else you will have to ubndergo this repeated infections commonly..
Doctor :   A fresh lime squeezed in a glass of warm water, with four teaspoons of honey and a quarter teaspoon of common salt, should be sipped slowly in such cases
Doctor :   are you there Nicole?
User :   and what would you suggest is the best pain relief for the moment?
Doctor :   Its an Infection and as long as that is not addressed then there is no point in takingthe pain killers .since the root cause is still there..
User :   so what would you suggest for the moment as the pain is unbearable?
Doctor :   Which place are you chatting form..
Doctor :   COMBIFLAM. one in th morning and the evening after food.
Doctor :   It should relive you of the pain.. but again you need to address the cause..
Doctor :   the Infection.
Doctor :   are you there
User :   so after 5 days of taking antibiotics this should have at least started to improve is that right?
Doctor :   yes but then if the organisms in the infections are resistant to the antibiotic then again the infection will not subside or reduce..
