User :   Let me explain to you.
User :   ok...
User :   The pain that you describe could be arising from the nail conditions, nail bed problem or the underlying blood vessels, nerves or bone problems.
User :   It is difficult to assess which of these is causin the problem.
User :   Having said that, since you do not report of any other associated causes,
User :   the most likely causes are as follows
User :   moreover, there is not much of gap between the nail and the underlying flesh
User :   1. An ingrown or over grown toe nail
User :   ok...
User :   2. Nail or nail bed inflammation - commonly fungal infection
User :   ok
User :   These are the 2 possible conditions that I can think of as the cause for the pain.
User :   ok doctor,is there any cure for this?
User :   the first condition needs procedure to remove the ingrown nail
User :   while the later needs a course of antifungal drugs given for 4-6 weeks.
User :   ok...
User :   Other possible causes for such pains could be somatic conditions such as fibromyalgia, nail psoriasis, growth in the nail bed and so on.
User :   A physical examination by a doctor is clearly indicated here
User :   to differentiate the conditions.
User :   ok...
User :   Exact treatment can be achieved after determining the cause.
User :   Sure thing doctor
User :   Hence I advise you to consult a dermatologist for the examination.
User :   Hope it is clear to you.
