User :   Tingling sensations in lower left leg affecting shin and calf and sometimes painful. Worse when resting - been like this for over two weeks. Now so bad it's waking me up in the night. Don't know whether it's circulation related, muscular, varicose veins - tho i don't see any protruding, or M.S. The last two are things which run in my father's family.
Doctor :   Hi,
User :   GREAT. How can you help?
Doctor :   May i ask some details about the condition ?
User :   ofcourse
Doctor :   Did you notice the temperature of the limb when you have the symptoms ?
User :   No
Doctor :   And will there be any discoloration during the symptoms ?
User :   No
Doctor :   ok,is the right limb completely Ok ?
User :   yes
Doctor :   Do you smoke ?
User :   no
Doctor :   Do you consume alchohol ?
User :   no
Doctor :   where exactly is the pain and the tingling sensation in the limb ?
User :   i used to be very active before having my toddler who is now 3. but because i work full time i have very little time to work out the way i used to. i also used to plau netball competitively...
Doctor :   is it i the joint or the muscles ?
User :   i have no idea. difficult to describe. seems to be all over - general. But sometimes the pins and needles are sharper andmore painful and where can vary. last week it wasmore painful in the back of the leg - middle'ish of calf. this week's the pain's when sharp were more on my shin, around the front where the muscle is - very odd.
User :   Even when i feel the pain more sharply in one location, the background sensations elsewhere in my leg persist. They're worse when i'm resting. At least i'm more aware of them when resting.
Doctor :   ok, the description ( resting pain ) of the symptoms in you give me a clue about a vascular problem ( probably TAO thrombo angitis obliterance )
Doctor :   i would suggest you to get an Doppler scan of the left lower limb
Doctor :   it will provide detailed insights into your problem
User :   what is laymen's terms for your diagnosis?
Doctor :   get both arterial and venous doppler
User :   how soon do you suggest i get this and what causes what you suggest could be the problem?
Doctor :   in lay man terms it could be defined as mild block in the artery ( blood vessels ) leading to ischemia of the muscles leading to resting pain and also tingling sensation due to ischemia of nerves
Doctor :   sooner the better , but not ant an emergency , you can push a day or two on max
User :   thank you v. much for your advice.
Doctor :   the cause of it could be diverse, could be either age relaetd , nutritional factors , over weight , cholesterol , smoking , infections etc
Doctor :   you are welcome
