User :   i have a question about thyroiditis
I am a 37 yr old woman w/ a 2 yr old havent felt right since but only recently was told my thryoid was enlarged by an examination. i had blood test taken & all i know is my t3 t4 stuff were in normal range but the antibodies & other one he took were in the mid 6000's!! he said no meds needed & i have to now wait to go in & talk to him. he said it's thyroiditis but wont tell me anything else. im scared.
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   Dr here
User :   hi
Doctor :   Let me read your query
User :   ok, sorry i dont know the actual names of each test it was told by phone quickly
Doctor :   OK
User :   thryoid par -soemthing was 6469 & thyroid something antibodies were 6782
Doctor :   So your docotor told you hace thyroiditis
User :   yes
User :   but not what kind or anything yet
Doctor :   You will not require medicines unless you suffer from hypothroidism or hyperthyroidism
User :   so then how does this heal?
Doctor :   And for inflamation of throid (Thyroiditis)
Doctor :   The most probable cause would be an infection
Doctor :   So when the infection is cured probably will resolve
User :   hmm, but i havent felt well in so long & no fever
Doctor :   Generally thyroiditis is left untreated unless producing any discomfort
User :   i have many thryoid symtoms
User :   btu isnt my body attacking my thyroid?
Doctor :   The symptoms are weight loss/ gain, loss of appetite, irritability , do you have any of these
User :   yes
Doctor :   Unless diagnosed what type of thyroiditis we cant confirm
User :   weight gain, irritability alot of anxiety, winded, tired....
Doctor :   But your throid haormone levels are normal right
Doctor :   Then need not worry
User :   i assumed if my antibodies were high ( isnt 6000's VERY high?) my thryoid is being like eaten away =/
Doctor :   Can you say me what antibodies i need the exact values to confirm your findings
Doctor :   Can you name them
User :   name them?
User :   i only know she said on the phone my thryoid something somehting antibody level was 6782
Doctor :   There are differnt antibodies
User :   & it was elevated she said
User :   oh
Doctor :   Which antibody levels
User :   i dont know.. i didn't know there was more than 1
Doctor :   Were they TSH levels
User :   she didnt say thryoid stimulating hormone
User :   id know that term
Doctor :   When t3 t4 and TSh are normal then it functions are assumed to be normal
User :   i hear pregnancy can bring this on but my baby is now 2 so id assume it wasnt that
Doctor :   Yes pregancy at times will lead to throiditis
Doctor :   but will resolve in a year
User :   right b i was pregnant 2 yrs ago
Doctor :   Ok
User :   i have never heard of elevesl or cant find levels on line for 6000's
Doctor :   What were the other tests done. were there anyother tests done
User :   yes but he wont tell me yet i have to wait a week or so
Doctor :   Oh
User :   it's been giving me such anxiety
User :   i tried to look up what i have but ever level says 1. or 3. something
Doctor :   Plz dont get anxious most of the thyroiditis will resolve within a year by self
User :   6000's i cant find anything
Doctor :   Thats what even i am try to find out
Doctor :   I have never heard values in 6000 range
Doctor :   might it was some differnet test
User :   me either thats why im very scared & he refuses to talk to me by phone before i can get in
Doctor :   Might be he is busy, try calling him again he might answer you
User :   i know she said she ordered a antibody test & that was 6782

Doctor :   That might be the test code
User :   i tried as i also have panic disorder & cant get out easily
User :   no she said it was my level & it was elvated
Doctor :   You should be confident anxiety will worsen your sympotoms
User :   i know, not wasy
