User :   Hi
I have been dealing with a throat and ear pain for about 2-3 months. Four months ago I had a ear and throat infection and was on antibiotics and since then the pain just never quite went away. I seen a ENT many times and he looks in my ear and throat and says everything looks good. He says maybe a nerve pain. He always tells me that it is not a cancer because iam to young and cancer does not cause pain. I am 26 year old male. I dont smoke or drink. I take verymist nasal spray, singulair, zyrtec, and lexapro daily. I have dust mite, dander, and pollen allergies. Anyways iam just sick and tired of this lingering throat and ear pain just on the left side. Sometimes i dont feel it for 2 days and then it is back again. So tonight i took matters into my own hands. I looked in the back of my throat with a flashlight and could not see anything significant. I shined the light in the spot that I could feel pain and seen nothing. So I stuck my finger back there and felt a small bump right behind my left tonsil toward the top of it. As soon as I felt this there was the pain that i always felt. It would almost feel like a boil or pimple of some sort. Its like a burning stinging pain. What do you think this could be? Is this even a significant finding? Do you think it is Cancer? Please Help!

User :   right behind my left tonsil but on top of it. like behind a flap of skin on towards the roof of my mouth on the left side
Doctor :   it could be a salivary gland acini
Doctor :   and its normal
User :   darn i thought I found my problem. what would cause this lingering pain
Doctor :   is the pain during swallowing only are its continuous ?
User :   when i eat or drink water i dont feel it at all- but otherwise when i am not eating or drinking then it is continous
Doctor :   ok, is it in the throat and ear at the same time ?
User :   also when i suck on a candy then there is no pain

User :   but more in the throat
Doctor :   are you diagnose of any allergies ?

Doctor :   do you keep swallowing the mucous ?
User :   yes sometimes it is all day and then i dont feel anything for a couple days and then it comes back again
Doctor :   ok, here i can consider only two causes for your problem one being most expected that is due to nerve damage due to past infection
Doctor :   and the other due to allergy , which do present with pain in some cases
User :   no cancer?
Doctor :   i would ask you to take anti allergics and observe the pain
Doctor :   no , not cancer at al
User :   ok i take singulair and zyrtec - what else should i take
Doctor :   take ODIMONT
Doctor :   its a very good anti allergic
