User :   I slipped on the edge of my shallow pool and banged by thigh on the concrete rim. I have a pain right at the base of my spine in the pelvis area which is sore when I sit down bu OK when standing/walking. Do I need to see a doctor?

Doctor :   May I know if you have had any previous history of disc bulges or disc prolapse or spinal problems ?

Doctor :   How bad is the pain when you sit , for eg. if you grade it between 1 to 10 ?
Doctor :   Can you lie down and lift your right and left leg alternatively to check if you have pain at 30/45/60/75 degrees in the siple leg raising test ?
User :   I would say 5 to 6, not serious but uncomfortable. It happened 1 days ago and may be getting a little better. Pain is right at the bottomin between my thighs

Doctor :   If you can do this test , i can help you with by ruling out a major spinal problem /

User :   I can rotate my leg thigh no problem, Thought may have small fracture of the pelvis rather than spine?
Doctor :   I shall give you a small prescription of OTC Medication for your problem.
Doctor :   But would be satisfied if you would have an x-ray for the hip , pelvis .
User :   Thanks, the pain is ok when waling or seeping juits sitting during the day, Ok if I sit to the side.

User :   Should I just see how it goes, pan may go after another 10 days or so.
Doctor :   I would advise you to see the doctor if teh pain dosnt subside after the advise that i give you in 4 days.

Doctor :   1.Please use an abdominal belt for your waist to support your lower back, as most of the injuries to pelvis or thigh effect the lower spine as it takes the brunt of the injury or fall

Doctor :   2. Please Use RICE Treatment. R-Rest, I-Ice, C-Compression or bandage with waist belt , E- Elevation of the lgs under a pillow when you sleep.

Doctor :   3. Use Diclo gel for your back and apply back and do a gentle massage
Doctor :   Please follow the folowing steps and give ample rest for four days at least.
Doctor :   4. Do not use a very soft , spring bed but a hrd bed.
User :   OK, as said pain is more at the bottom of the spine/pelvis region about 6 inches below waist .
Doctor :   If the pain is too much , use a tam brufen 500mg.
Doctor :   thrice daily

Doctor :   If it doesnt subside in 4 days , pls. see an ortho immediately.
User :   Is the pelvis likley to have suffered a hairline fracture as a result of my thigh hitting the concrete?
Doctor :   You have to get a digital x-ray to rule out any.
