User :   I have a few questions : history: 24 year old male living in XXXXXXXX at a major university. heterosexual, 5 total partners in my life. 3 years ago I had a one time encounter of unprotected vaginal and oral intercourse with a female of unknown status. She later told me she had been with 20 the time we were 19 years old. 2 weeks after I had NGU with a red urethral opening and pain after ejaculation. another week went by and I became ill with conjunctivitis, white pockets in my tonsils, low grade fever, cough, and lost my voice, also swollen nodes. This scared me so I went to my university health clinic and tested for Chlamydia, gon, trich by urinalysis and all was neg. At this time I also tested for HIV with a rapid test and was neg. this was 7 weeks past. 10 weeks I went to internist and requested a Viral load HIV to be done and came back undetectable. and neg mono spot test 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10, 11,12 months all neg HIV tests. and normal CBC. I then met who is now my fiancé and she is also an RN. I went back to the doctor and we were both tested for HIV again before intercourse. we were both neg. the issue I have is that I still have swollen lymph nodes ranging from pea to marble sized in my posterior cervical chain, on behind my right ear, and also under both arms. I can also feel some around my shoulder and pectoral region. This worried me again so I just had my fiancé and myself test again for HIV via a home access HIV-1 test 2 weeks ago.... again both tests were NEG. this is now 3 years and 3 months past this only possible exspouser. my fiancé and I are COMPLETELY monogamous. recently I have also been experiencing almost like a nuropathy symptom where it feels like I am being pricked in the foot by a needle or something....... My fiancé has also been having some stomach pain now for the past few weeks where her stool is Extremely foul smelling and her stomach get very upset almost like cramping very often. I made her a GI doc appointment tomorrow. my issues is that I recently lost my health insurance she has hers through the hospital which she is a nurse .

Doctor :   and at present what you have is the lymph nodes swollen ?

User :   generally they are not painful..... every now and then they may sting but that is nt usual.
User :   I have tested for HIV a total of 24 times out to 3 years and 3 months all Negitive.
User :   this includes an undetectable viral load after 10 weeks.

Doctor :   any other medical conditions?
User :   None that I am aware of..... other then dental issues.
User :   i am 24 years old, 5'7" , 162 lbs

User :   a few weeks after this encounter over 3 years ago.

User :   I have used compunet labs for Elisa HIV 1/2.... also oraquick advance HIV1/2. and recombinet gold HIV1/2
User :   no not that I am aware of ....they remain rather the same
User :   I forgot after about a year after this I also had a pygenic granuloma on my shoulder that was lanced off and cauterized

User :   With 24 neg HIV tests including a viral load do you ffel that this has been ruled out?
User :   also my fiancé had a negative HIV test 2 weeks ago because I asked her to be tested

Doctor :   now let me tell you some reasons why one can get swollen nodes
Doctor :   the no 1 of course being infection
Doctor :   yes HIV can cause BUT also even the virus causing common cold can cause it
Doctor :   you could be having what we can call is chronic inflammation of nodes
User :   chronic inflammation of the nodes? so this is when they were once reactive but jus remain swollen?
Doctor :   since you are all negative for STD so we can rule that cause
Doctor :   do they feel hard ?
Doctor :   irregular ?
User :   Do you feel with SO many Neg HIV testes and with my fiancé having neg tests that we are truly HIV neg?

Doctor :   yes thats for sure
User :   not really they are fairly soft and mobile. the one behind my ear is somewhat hard and fixed
User :   okay great that has been my primary concern
Doctor :   you are TRUELY HIV negative
Doctor :   i have not seen anyone in my practice with so many tests done
Doctor :   so DONT WORRY
Doctor :   now let me tell you whats the next step
User :   Okay that makes me feel much better. I was just worried of delayed seroconversion.

Doctor :   your nodes does not have those red flag answers to my questions
Doctor :   i mean they are not tender not hard or irregular
User :   what do you mean by irregular?
Doctor :   so now what we need to do is that you need to get a lymph node biopsy
Doctor :   that test is DIAGNOSTIC
User :   okay and I can be confident that HIV is not the cause?
Doctor :   and will tell us exactly whats causing them
Doctor :   yes you can be confident
User :   okay great. Do you feel that it is from this sexual encounter 3 years ago?
Doctor :   your STD tests are all normal
Doctor :   all you need is a simple biopsy and thats all

Doctor :   take care of your self and it takes 3 months for HIV to show positive
Doctor :   you have ENOUGH TESTS done
User :   okay I will stop testing fro HIV :)
