User :   i think I have a chest flutter
Doctor :   Kindly explain your symptoms in detail. Also may i know your age?
User :   I get a feeling as if my heart is skipping for a split second usually in the morning before eating something or under stress at work. no chest pains. I have had an ekg and an eco stress test with threadmill and ultra sound all normal. blood PB is normal 117 over 76. My age is 42
Doctor :   Do you have any breathlessness or sweating? Since when are you having these symptoms?Do you have any other symptom like increased sugar, BP or cholesterol?
User :   it feels like it takes a breath away or like being startled no sweating. my cholesterol is 182 and my good cholesterol was a little low at 39 about 9months ago.
Doctor :   Since when are you having these symptoms? Are you on any medications? Are you under any kind of stress?
User :   No medicatications. I had this for about 2years. Doctors have said it was anxiety. I have had a colonoscopy last month to see if was gastro related (normal)
Doctor :   It can be due to anxiety ,stress, medications, exercises
User :   The only thing that take is nicotine gum at 2mg. I have taken it down to no more than three a day. chew half of it a time. could this be an issue?
Doctor :   It seems like related to stress or anxiety. You should try to relax yourself and do some form of meditation and regular exercises.
Doctor :   Yes nicotine intake sometimes do cause this symptom. Since how long have you been having this symptom?
Doctor :   1) Eat a well-balanced, low-fat diet.
User :   I did quit smoking about 4years ago and started to chew the gum. I would say about the last two years
Doctor :   2)# Exercise regularly.
Doctor :   3)Make sure that your blood pressure and cholesterol are under control
Doctor :   4)Try stress management techniques such as yoga, or meditation.
User :   Is it common when I get excited for this to happen. I get these in the morning of a fishing trip
Doctor :   5)When you feel your heart skipping take a polythene bag and do deep breathing after covering it with your mouth. This will help in relieving anxiety
Doctor :   Yes it is common in case of excitement.
User :   does the test as done with my doctors ekg, 24 hour holter, and the eco stress test rule any serious problems
Doctor :   Yes these tests being normal suggest that you do not have any heart diseases like arrhythmia, flutter, which could have lead to this heart skipping.
User :   so this heart fluttering sensation is not an actual flutter in the heart itself?
Doctor :   6)Whenever you have anxiety peel and inhale an orange whose aroma is considered to reduce anxiety. Orange juice with a teaspoon of honey and a pinch of nutmeg can also be had to relax the nerves
Doctor :   Whenever because of anxiety or stress the body release adrenaline hormone in the body and that transmits nerve impulses throughout body and increase heart rate for moment.
Doctor :   It also contracts blood vessels and dilated air passages to prepare the body to tackle the situation
User :   yeah that what it feels like!I get anxious it builds and then bang !I get the flutter
Doctor :   7)Calm yourself in such situations and relax by listening to good music or having a aroma bath
Doctor :   8)Always be positive and spend time doing your favourite things.
