User :   For the past two months I've had pain in my glands. For a while they were very swollen but now the swelling is gone but the pain remains. It is mostly on the right side but sometimes I can feel it on both sides. Ibrupopen used to help but now any more. I went to the doctor and he took many blood tests that came back normal. he said it must be a viral infection. that appointment was a month ago and I still have the pain - even worse. I also have systemic lupus.
Doctor :   Doctor :   let me read ur query
Doctor :   ok

Doctor :   to proceed, u mean to say, that u have enlarged tonsils or lymph nodes below ur neck?
Doctor :   is this right ?
User :   my tonsils are not enlarged as far as I know and my lymph nodes hurt on the right side of my neck under my jaw
Doctor :   ok

Doctor :   thats due to infection
Doctor :   has it reduced since the last month ?
User :   No. It did feel a little better for a few days but now is worse but I still don't feel any swelling
Doctor :   have u taken any antibiotics prescribed by ur doc ?

User :   no. when I went to the doctor that said it must be a viral infection, he did not prescribe anything.
Doctor :   ok,

Doctor :   the persisting pain, is due to remaining infection in the gland
Doctor :   and you need a course of antibiocs, to help u out
User :   will it go away on its own eventually?
Doctor :   yes

Doctor :   it may, go away in a few days
Doctor :   but u may need ibuprofen for some more days
User :   I had parathyroid surgery a year ago. could it possibly be related to that?
Doctor :   no, its not related to that

Doctor :   i would also advice you to do some saline gargling

Doctor :   which will help you to sooth the throat
User :   my throat does not hurt
User :   and i have no fever
Doctor :   ok

Doctor :   this means the throat is ok
Doctor :   and this is a remnant of the prior infection
Doctor :   and hence is not much to worry
User :   ok thank you
Doctor :   u r welcome
Doctor :   do u have any query?
User :   no i'm done
Doctor :   ok, thanks for consulting me here
Doctor :   hope u get well soon
