Doctor :
Are you there?

User :   PLZ TELL ME DOCTOR WHAT DO I DO
Doctor :
Is he on any medications?
User :   YES
Doctor :   Ok
User :   COULD YOU FOLLOW THE IMPRESSION
Doctor :
Does he have diabetes/hypertension/any other medical problems?
Doctor :
Yes I have followed with the report.
User :   HE HAS A HIGH BP
User :   BP recently was 150/100
Doctor :
OK
Doctor :
I shall explain it to you.
Doctor :
The treatment of the syringomyelia is basically the elimination of the cause for it.
User :   OK
Doctor :
The cause could either be a trauma, a tumour on any other factors that can increase the pressure on the driaining CSF.
User :   HMMMMMM...........
Doctor :
So if any such factors is found, he may need surgical treatment to treat the cause.
User :   but he is 54
User :   AND THE DOCTORS DO NOT RECOMMEND A SURGERY FOR HIM
Doctor :   Unfortunately the only curative treatment is in the form of surgery.
User :   OK
Doctor :
The surgical removal of the cause with a finding a way to decompress the cyst has to be done
User :   OH
Doctor :
Measures that can be used to decompress the cyst is either in the form of shunts.
User :   BUT THE NEUROSURGEON SAYS
Doctor :
Since he has symptoms of difficulty to walks he has symptoms of hydrocephalus,
Doctor :
Which means there is increased CSF pressure in the brain and the spinal canal.
User :   OK
Doctor :   The feasiblility for the surgery is known.
User :   BUT HE HAS PUT ON A LOT OF WEIGHT
Doctor :
I mean the surgery is attempted only if it is feasible.
User :   WHAT IS HYDROCEPHALUS
Doctor :
Else medical treatment in the form of pain relief medications, measures to reduce the CSF pressure is to be done.
Doctor :
Hydrocephalus refers to accumulation of CSF in the brain.
Doctor :
It occur when there is blockage to the CSF circulation in the brain or the spinal cord.
Doctor :
Have you followed?
User :   IS IT THE ADVANCED STAGE OF SYNGROMYELIA
User :   ???????
Doctor :
The syringomyelia itself has no progression.
User :   THERE ISNT A CHANGE THAT COULD COULD BE SEEN IN HIS MRI . SO COULD AN INCREASE IN WEIGHT BE A REASON FOR THE DIFFICULTY IN WALKING
Doctor :
However if a cause is determined depending on the cause the cyst can be progressive.
Doctor :
Weight gain can be a reason for his walking style briefly, but it should not
Doctor :
be the reason for drastic changes in his walking style.
User :   HE IS 5 .1 in height and weighs 87
Doctor :   May I know if his symptoms are just numbness or inability to walk?
User :   numbness
Doctor :
Does he have any weakness?
User :   no
Doctor :   How is he walking about?
User :   with the help of a stick
Doctor :
Does he experience pain or difficulty in walking?
User :   pain no but a little difficulty
User :   he feels a little tightness
Doctor :
Is he progressive finding it difficult to walk about with the stick?
Doctor :
*progressively.
User :   no tightness is the same
Doctor :
Ok
User :   but his style of walk has changed
User :   he has been prescribed
Doctor :   ??
User :   T.TOLIFAST(150) , T.RICONIA, T.MAXGALIN(150)
User :   R U THERE
Doctor :
Maxgalin is a good medications for the numbness.
Doctor :   I am not sure of the contents of the other two drugs.
User :   AND THE OTHER 2
User :   OK
User :   SO WHAT DO YOU SAY
Doctor :
I shall suggest you these measures.
User :   SURE
Doctor :
Since his symptoms are basically numbness and not weakness,
User :   K
Doctor :
the use of surgical treatment
User :   NUMBNESS WAS EARLIER ONLY IN HIS RIGHT LEG
User :   AND NOW MOVED ON TO LEFT
Doctor :
can be questioned when compared to the risk involved with the surgery'
User :   KKKKKKK
Doctor :
So his symptoms can be controlled with alteration of the medications.
Doctor :
Have you followed?
User :   YES
User :   SO IS HIS SITUATION VERY SERIOUS
Doctor :
Presently as there is no weakness and there is no growth with the cyst,
User :   OK
Doctor :
I do not feel that the situation is out of control
User :   SO WHAT CAN BE DONE
User :   WILL HE EVER BE ABLE TO WALK
Doctor :   And also follow measure to reduce his weight.
Doctor :
He must be able to walk better when the pain and the numbness reduces.
Doctor :
Have you followed?
User :   BUT THERE HASNT BEEN ANY PAIN AT ALL
User :   SINCE THE BEGINNING
Doctor :
I mean the tightness and the numbness
User :   CAN U PLZ TELL ME ALITTLE MORE IN DETAIL
User :   SO U FEEL SINCE THERE IS NO WEAKNESS THERE HASNT BEEN A GROWTH IN CYST
Doctor :   That is more likely
User :   HE HAS BEEN TALKING PHYSIOTHERAPHY
User :   WILL THAT BE OK
Doctor :
Since his symptoms are not very progressive, I probably do not think his condition is progressive.
Doctor :
Continue with the physiotherapy.
Doctor :
It can make useful contributions in helping his symptoms.
User :   BUT NOT BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE AND THEN NOW NOT BEEN ABLE TO WALK WITHOUT STICK
User :   DO U THINK HE ISNT PROGRESSIVE
Doctor :
A rapid progression of the symptoms is more alarming then a mild and slow growth.
Doctor :
That is what you should look for.
User :   can u plz explain a little more
Doctor :   Hi
User :   r u the same doctor i was talking to
Doctor :

User :   will loosing weight be of any help to him
Doctor :   5. Moral and family support may help your dad and can also contribute to his confidence.
User :   so that he could walk as before
User :   does tension have an effect on his numbness
Doctor :
Weight reduction may mildly help but not significantly.
Doctor :
Yes, stress and anxiety play a major role in his symptoms.
