User :   she got my cbc done
User :   everything was normal
Doctor :   Ok
User :   but still i dont know i am scared
User :   if even i dont have anything when i feel i have this thing i get stressed out and feel sick
Doctor :   Ok
User :   i asked my doctor about leukemia and asked for my family history
Doctor :   Ok
User :   i dnt have anyone in the family with any kind of cancer but just breast cancer
User :   just to let you know i am 24 yrs old
Doctor :   May I know the symptoms that you are experiencing?
User :   i am not having any kind of symptoms
User :   i jsut got my blood test done, couple of days ago, and i got my physical examination done as well
User :   everything came out normal
User :   but now this thing got stuck in my mind im not able to concentrate on my finals
Doctor :   Cancer can present with wide variety of symptoms and most often they are detected only by means of investigations.
Doctor :   At the age of 24, cancers are uncommon, except for a few which can present early.
Doctor :   Various screening tests are available now, and these tests are done by doctors not for the confirmation of the disease, but to see, if you are one among the unlucky persons.
User :   what kind of cancers ?
Doctor :   *Unlucky meaning those who contact cancers early.
Doctor :   A few of the cancers which can present at early ages are the breast and the ovarian cancers.
Doctor :   Apart from these most of the other cancers occur only at the age of above 40 years.
User :   ive got my pelvic exam done, im doing fine and i get my regular periods, but i am just scared of leukemia
Doctor :   So if a doctor performs a test for cancer, especially when you do not have symptoms, its only for a screening.
User :   even thou my WBC was normal , but im getting migraines from pasty 2 days thinking about this disease
Doctor :   And if things turn out positive during these tests, it is usually in the curable stages.
Doctor :   So you do not have to worry about cancers, since you say, you do not have symptoms.
Doctor :   Migraine is a different form of condition, and it is not a rule that CBC should be abnormal in persons who suffer migraines.
User :   migraine is jsut i geti t when im extremely stressed out and thinking about one thing all the time
Doctor :   So, my personal advice would be not to worry.
Doctor :   However as a doctor, I shall suggest you
User :   so i shouldnt be worried about leukemia esp in this age ?
Doctor :   Yes, do not worry about leukemia at this age,
Doctor :   especially when you do not have symptoms and the CBC counts are normal.
Doctor :   A doctors advice are the breathing exercises when ever you feel stressed out and have difficulties in concentrations, due to these problems.
Doctor :   Stress and anxiety are only going to increase your problems and not reduce it.
Doctor :   Do you follow what I have suggested.
Doctor :   Do you have any further query?
User :   just few more questions so that i am satisfies and i am able to live a normal life , sorry for taking your time
Doctor :   Please proceed.
User :   so if in my family nobody has a leukemia i am risk free? and in what age leukemia is common ?
Doctor :   leukemia is a condition which commonly seen after the age of 40 - 45 years.
Doctor :   This is the common pattern, however, like I mentioned a few unlucky ones can contact this condition in the early ages also.
Doctor :   That would depend on the presence of various risk factors.
Doctor :   One of those risk factors are family history of leukemia,
Doctor :   genetic mutations,
Doctor :   environmental exposures,
Doctor :   smoking.
Doctor :   These are the commonly known risk factors.
Doctor :   However, very often there are no factors present.
Doctor :   But since you say the blood counts are normal, it indicates that you do not have leukemia.
Doctor :   Blood count is one of the diagnostic tests for diagnosing leukemia.
Doctor :   So you need not worry when your count is normal.
User :   yeah that is true but i was just scared if even i get it done how safe am i even after that
User :   so now that i got my cbc done and it is normal, when should i get my next cbc ?
Doctor :   If you have one of those risk factors, your doctors will be monitoring you frequently.
Doctor :   However in the absence of the risk factors, you can get these tests once in a years.
Doctor :   Or if you want to be more cautious, once in 6 months would do.
User :   so do you think i am good for this year ?
Doctor :   Yes, definitely.
Doctor :   Avoid those risk factors.
User :   yeah i dont smoke or anything
Doctor :   Tiredness and migraines can be part of the anxiety problems that you may be facing.
Doctor :   Eat a healthy and balanced diet, sleep regularly, good physical exercises regularly are few modifications that you can do to prevent most of the illness.
Doctor :   That includes cancers and leukemia.
Doctor :   And lastly you would have to reduce the amount of stressors too.
Doctor :   Do you follow what I have suggested?
User :   yes i have
Doctor :   Do you have any further query that I can assist you with?
User :   no thats about it
User :   thank you very much
