User :   hi i've had glands swell in my groin area and they've come and gone for the last three years should this be anything to be extremely worried over?

User :   they stay for about 3 weeks and then are totally gone

when ever there is infection of the region which drains the area supplied by the lymph gland it will swell up

it is called reactive lymphadenitis

User :   Its normal to be tender? and its just strange some times two will swell but if i dont touch them they will go down and eventually be gone.. will this ever stop or keep coming up it seems to happen like ever 5 to 6 months

it not only happens in the groin, it can even happen in the neck and armpit also
User :   i've heard that i was just worried about hiv but i dont know how i would of come in contact with that
Doctor :   all infections, say if yo get a small wound in the leg and if it get infected than also you will see that the groin nodes are painful and swollen

in hiv there will be a pattern of the lymphgland swelling
User :   like how? not just in the grion but all over?

it is persistent meaning it will not disappear and it will be multiple and present all over the body
Doctor :   and more so it will not be tender
User :   okay but i have had two.. so i shouldnt be worried about since i've only had it in the grion and they are tender

it is normal when ever you have ordinary infection
User :   i just think it strange that it comes and goes and sometimes i have two and seems to happen alot

User :   yes it usually always does.. i didn't know this was so common.
