User :   Hi, I am a 35 year old female I have swollen glands and lymph nodes - mostly on right side, very tight neck and shoulder muscles along with tightness on right side of chest and stuffy right ear for sometime now. No fever, weight loss or night sweats or any other symtpoms besides tiredness..what could this be?? Both my kids had tonisiltis about 2 weeks ago and I almost suspected mono? very worries here
Doctor :   Hi,
User :   hello
Doctor :   My i know the exact site where the lymph nodes are ?
User :   under my chin seems swollen along neck (right side
User :   )and possible a gland on the front of my chest - if there is one there
Doctor :   ok, Do you have nausea, vomiting or sore thraot etc ?
User :   perhaps a little sore throat - not bad - my tonsils were taken out as a child
Doctor :   ok, Since when do you have these problems ?
User :   wondering If I strained a muscle in my chest/back and the swollen glands are linked or different cause...glands have been swollen for a few days, but they tend to swell off and on it seems, and they also swell when I use cleaning products it seems
Doctor :   yes, i could consider muscle spasm being the cause for the chest pain or the chest wall swelling
Doctor :   may i know what cleaning products aggravate the lymph node swelling ?
User :   toilet cleaners, bleach..chemicals, sometimes when drinking wine they seems to feel a little enlarged
User :   I do seem to always have tight neck and shoulders - I get massages to help
Doctor :   ok, that is due to the muscle spasm surrounding the inflamed nodes
Doctor :   yes, MONO could be a chance here
User :   I will go to my dr tomorrow or in a day or two, but how long to lymph nodes usually stay enlarged for?
Doctor :   i would like to advice you to get a MONOSPOT ( heterophile antibody test ) and if it turns negative then a FNAC of the swollen lymph node
User :   what is FNAC?
Doctor :   usually for weeks
Doctor :   FNAC fine needle aspiration cytology , a small amount of material is drawn from the lymph node using a fine needle and studied under microscope
User :   why would my right side of body be affected more than my left?
User :   obviously with 2 young kids, my biggest fears are cancer - would i have more symptoms if it was cnacer?
Doctor :   once they are sore they will become prone , for the next inflammatory reaction , hence recurrence on the same side always
Doctor :   No,
Doctor :   not cancer
User :   thank you , just looking for reassurance, I will visit my Dr this week.
Doctor :   and FNAC will rule out that at once
User :   ok
Doctor :   you are welcome
User :   take care
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me , kindly provide your feedback
User :   sure
Doctor :   Bye for now
Doctor :   Wish you al health
User :   thank you
