User :   My ex was diagnosed with chlamydia this past December, a few days later I was seen and given a treatment for chlamydia. I have been experiencing occasional mild cramping the past couple of weeks, occasional burning with urination, and frequent urination. My partner now had an ingrown hair on his shaft a week or so ago and is now experiencing swelling in his shaft and tenderness. My question is, should I be concerned that i still have chlamydia or could his pain be due to the ingrown hairs and mine be due to something different?
User :   Hello
Doctor :   please give me a couple of mins to read the query
Doctor :   may i know your age ?
User :   24
Doctor :   apart from the in grown hair , does your partner have other symptoms , could you elaborate on all the symptoms he has now ?
User :   he says that he has swelling in his shaft, it is not noticable to me but he says that it is thicker than normal to him, he says that it is tender to the touch but apart from that he has no other sympotoms
Doctor :   ok , apart from his being your partner , did you have any relationship with anyone else ? these questions are important related to your question , hence i am asking you
User :   My ex for a couple of weeks after his being diagnosed, but not recently.
Doctor :   ok
User :   I dont know if it is pertenant to this query but my symptoms did not start until recently. I recently started having intercourse with my new partner and he noted that one night during intercourse he felt like something stuck the end of his penis. I do have a IUD in place.
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   may i know if your partner has any diffiuclty in urination , burning , and an abnormal discharge?
User :   He is experiencing none of those symptoms.
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   and do you have any abnormal discharge ?
User :   Not anything out of the ordinary that I have noticed.
Doctor :   ok , does your partner have swelling of testes , any lymphnode enlargements , etc
User :   Not that he has stated, he would not let me look at it.
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   since you have problems with cramps and urination , i would avise you to take the test again as there is a chance of it being infection
Doctor :   and noticing any swelling , urination problems , etc in males may also indicate an infection
User :   With that being said, I have an infant that I bathe while I am in the bath, should I be concerned about her
Doctor :   hence both of you have to get an examination done
Doctor :   yes , if you are having an infection , there are chances you can pass it on to your child as well by bathing along with her
Doctor :   i would suggest you not to do that until fully treated
Doctor :   does your child have any fever /
Doctor :   does she feed well ?
User :   no, she has not been sick, she eats well.
Doctor :   ok , i feel you get a test done along with your partner
Doctor :   and get your child examined
Doctor :   generally if it is chlamydia, it spreads by sexual contact , from the secretions
Doctor :   so chances that you have picked up from your partner are likely
Doctor :   and since you also have some cramps and burning urination, get a urine routine for a urine tract infection as well
User :   ok
Doctor :   did you follow my suggestions ?
Doctor :   i feel a course of antibiotics will be helpful
User :   Yes, thank you so much for your help
Doctor :   i suggest till the time you start medicines , please ask your partner to use a condom
Doctor :   this will prevent any possibility of infection , if you have not acquired it
Doctor :   i hope i answered all your questions .
User :   ok
Doctor :   are there any more questions for me to help you with ?
User :   Yes, thank you
Doctor :   thank you fo consulting me
User :   sorry, I have no more questions.
Doctor :   ok , thank you for consulting me
Doctor :   Take care
