User :   Hello
Doctor :   Hi,
User :   i spoke with my fiance earlier about his foot problem
Doctor :   Ok,
User :   and now ive taken a closer look at it, it has started to swell up
User :   around the lateral part of his ankle
Doctor :   ok,
Doctor :   Swelling is a common sign in vascular compromise , specially obstruction to venous flow
User :   do you think we should go to the emergency room
Doctor :   i would recommend the same
Doctor :   get your pulse in the lowerlimb checked and if possible a Doppler scan
User :   there is a pulse, color is normal, same temp as the other foot just the swelling and the pain
Doctor :   the above said features are seen in late stages
Doctor :   and still the vascular compromise could be a differential diagnosis , ruled out better by the doppler
User :   ok
