Doctor :   Do you have similar symptoms in any other joints?
Doctor :   Have you had similar symptoms in the past?
User :   No. I never had
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Let me brief you.
Doctor :   Based on the description of your symptoms, you probably are having muscular pain.
Doctor :   The pain originating from the muscles around the shoulders.
Doctor :   It can happen following trauma, inappropriate sleeping posture or rarely due to other infective causes.
Doctor :   Its probable any of the first two causes that may have caused the symptoms.
Doctor :   Along with this stress and anxiety also add to the problems.
Doctor :   I shall suggest you few measures that will be able to help you.
Doctor :   1. I suggest you to use analgesics such as ibuprofen 400mg twice daily after meals for the 2 - 3 days and gradually stop it as the pain reduces.
Doctor :   2. Icing/hot water bag application of the affected region also helps in controlling the inflammation and pain.
Doctor :   3. Restrict strain on the affected limb such as lifting heavy objects using the affected limb or strenous exercises.
User :   I did apply hot water bag, but not helping. Swelling is around 1 inch in diameter.
Doctor :   4. Correct sleeping position such as use of soft pillows.
Doctor :   * hot water bags reduce the inflammation over a period of time, however, if you there is further strain, the inflammation will take a long time to heal,
Doctor :   so its necessary that you restrict the use of the affected limb along with the fomentation techniques.
Doctor :   Use the analgesics tablets along with the fomentation.
User :   I started doing weights three days back
Doctor :   Alterative to these fomentation techniques, you can also use local antiinflammatory creams/sprays.
Doctor :   The weight lifting may have started the muscle pain.
Doctor :   Hence its necessary that you avoid lifting weights or any other straineous exercise till your symptom(pain and swelling completely resolves)
User :   May be because there is no other reason. Does it cause swelling on only one particular area in the body.
Doctor :   Yes, swelling and pain are signs of inflammation, and muscular sprains are one causes of inflammation among many other causes.
User :   Can I use Relispray for this ?
Doctor :   *Examples of topical antiinflammatory products are pain balms, Relispray, Diclofenac creams or sprays.
Doctor :   You can use these products along with the hot water baging.
Doctor :   Lastly these symptoms will resolve in a few days depending how much of rest you give to the affected limb.
Doctor :   Hence if the pain and the swelling are persisting for more than a week or if you develop other symptoms such as increase in the size of the swelling or development of fever,
Doctor :   I would suggest you to consult your doctor for physical examination.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
User :   Yeah. I have noted your suggestions. I will follow them
User :   Thank you.
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   No
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me.
User :   Thank you so much, Doctor
Doctor :   Bye for now.
User :   bye
