User :   This is so embarrassing!!! I was getting ready to wash my face last night. I went to take off my earring's one by one. I put the first one in between my lips while I took out the other. Needless to say, I tripped and swallowed the earring. They are studs. To see the exact earring go to dot jewelry and they are called Soiree Studs. Advice Please !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This happened early this morning around 2am and it now noon. How long should I wait to see if it passes before I call the Doctor's?
Doctor :   Hi
User :   Hello
Doctor :   Pls. give m efew secs. to go through your query.
User :   ok
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   May I know if you have any abnormal feeling in your throat or gut ?
Doctor :   May I know the exact size of the ear ring ?
User :   Not really, no.... I keep feeling a slight tingle in my lower right abdomen, but I think I'm getting myself worked up
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   the round part is8.9mm with 3/4 inch post
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Do not worry, there are numerous home remedies .
Doctor :   But it is always to follow up with a gastroenterologist and get a barium meal x-ray done and then follow up with treatment. As a professional I would suggest this.
User :   What is the average time on passing the earring
Doctor :   It usually takes 48 hrs for a foreign body to pass completely out, but varies greatly with texture, size and material.
User :   So should I wait 48 hours and if not passed by then, call a doctor?
Doctor :   No, I would say a big No.
User :   So what then?
Doctor :   As it is a ear ring and it can cause a tear inside the gut
Doctor :   please see a gastro immediately.
Doctor :   for a barium meal study and remedy
Doctor :   as a perforation can happen
Doctor :   Thank you for ocnsulting me
Doctor :   take care
Doctor :   bye for now
