User :   I have a cyst on each of my upper thighs. I had surgery last May where the doctor did a psoas tendon release. My legs and hips have hurt since. I still have 1 cyst left to get rid of and I do not want any more surgery. He said he could try to pop it. It may or may not work and will hurt like heck. Also, the cysts can come back. Have you ever heard of this and what would your suggestion be?
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :
let me read
Doctor :   from when you are suffering from this cysts ?
User :   I had a hard time getting it diagnosed....pain caused through exercising..laid off, went back, laid off, physical therapy, still complained...had a dye injection into my upper thighs and they found a 1" cyst in each leg. The orthopedic doctor said he could do this surgery to get rid of it with no problem. The surgery was last May. I did not get diagnosed for over a year prior to that date. the only problem I had was the pain in the groin area and now my hips hurt, I have trouble walking and my legs hurt. Am at my wit's end.
Doctor :
what was the diagnosis they have made?
User :   I had a cyst in each leg. You could see them on the doctor's ultrasound machine. The sugery last May did take care of the cyst, but I am having all of these other issues that I did not have before. I am very physically active. Exercise daily and a regular program at the Y. Since they have told me there is no guarantee that the cysts will not come back, I am extremely reluctant to have any further surgeries. I suspect I have scar tissue buildup around the two small incisions the doctor went through to cut the tendon.
Doctor :
scar tissue will be there after every injury
Doctor :   it will not give any problem
Doctor :   the cysts need to be removed, that is the only option
Doctor :   there is no medicines or other methods to reduce these kind of cysts
User :   have you ever heard of this? My proposal now is for the doctor to try and pop the remaining cyst no matter how much it hurts without having to do a surgical procedure.
Doctor :
yeah we have seen this kind of cases
Doctor :
not only in thigh these type of things do appear in wrist and ankle also
Doctor :   with our having surgical procedure it is difficult to fix
User :   WOULD IT BE NORMAL FOR ME TO HAVE THESE HIP AND LEG ISSUES AFTER THE SURGERY? i ALSO HAVE A CYST ON EACH ON OF MY HANDS. I AM A LEGAL SECRETARY AND I SUPPOSE THESE WERE CAUSED BY MY OCCUPATION? WHY DID THEY APPEAR ALL OF A SUDDEN, DO YOU KNOW THAT?
Doctor :
there are few injections which are injected into the cyst after aspirating fluid from it
Doctor :
why do they appear we don't know exactly
Doctor :
but when they appear
Doctor :
how to treat them is know
User :   how successful in popping the cyst do you think the doctor would be? what is put into the cyst after taking the fluid out?
Doctor :   surgical removal of the cyst is the best option where the recurrence chance is very less
Doctor :
in the other method where the fluid is drawn out and a medicine is injected into the cyst so that the cyst will collapse and no fluid get collected
User :   I AM AFRAID IF I HAVE ANOTHER SURGERY, I WON'T BE ABLE TO GET AROUND AT ALL AS BAD AS MY HIPS AND LEGS ARE AT THIS POINT. I REALLY DON'T WANT TO TAKE NSAID'S OR PAIND MEDS THE REST OF MY LIFE!
Doctor :
surgery is done to relieve peoples problem
Doctor :
not to create a new problem
