User :   I have a question. My mother has leukemia (ALL), and she just finished a round of chemotherapy. Her immune system is pretty much wiped out. There is a product that several people have told me about that might boost her energy as well as her immune system. It's called Sportron. It's a dietary supplement containing red grape extract, green tea extract quercetin, resveratrol, wild blueberry extract, grape seed extract, acai, pomegranate, indian gooseberry, ATP. Before I purchase this for her, do you think it would be beneficial for her? Or how long after her chemo can she begin to rebuild her immune system?
Doctor :   Hi, let me read it
Doctor :   OK
User :   It's a product from Sportron, called "Viva"
Doctor :   I think that first you need to know more about the
Doctor :   purpose of chemotherapy
Doctor :   & the method of its action
User :   Her doctor has found "blasts" in her spinal fluid, and the chemotherapy is used as a deterent for that spreading to her brain
User :   that is, IF i'm understanding her correctly. she had three weeks of chemo, and completed it two weeks ago
Doctor :   The bone marrow produces blood cells, in her case it is also producing these cancerous cells
Doctor :   the chemo will
Doctor :   bring down the immunity
Doctor :   by suppressing the production of
Doctor :   cells of immunity
Doctor :   so one has to wait untill chemotherapy is completed
Doctor :   before trying to boost the immunity
Doctor :   as such efforts will be in vain
User :   her chemo is completed, from what i understand. at least for now. I was just looking for some kind of natural supplement that might boost her energy level, and I wanted to purchase this for her, if it will be beneficial to her
Doctor :   Most of the contents in the product that you have mentioioned
Doctor :   are antioxidants
User :   are antioxidants good for her, now, or would that be bad?
Doctor :   Yes it will benefit her
Doctor :   just like it would to me or you
User :   great. I will but this for her. Thank you so very much
Doctor :   It is going to have little impact on the course of her disease, which is now being handled by the chemo
Doctor :   Do not overdose her with enthyusiasm
User :   I see. I don't like to see her "going down", and I just want something, anything, that might help her
Doctor :   kindly read the manufacturer instructions
User :   It says to combine 1 cap full with 2-4 ounces of water, sparkling water, or juice
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me. Bye for now. Please refer your friends to our service.
