User:Doctor I had a mouth ulcer on the roof of the mouth since last Friday (14 March) and suddenly from Wednesday(20 March) morning I had reddish rash on my right hand antecubital space. I took oral cetrizine XXXXXXX tablet 10mg yesterday night (20 march) but the rash still exists. I am worried and really depressed.
Doctor:Hi
User:hi Doctor
Doctor:Give me a couple of minutes while I look at the picture.
User:sure doctor
Doctor:I was able to view the picture uploaded. I see a very faint erythematous rash there.
Doctor:Besides the redness what other symptoms do you have?
Doctor:Are you there?
User:thats the only symptoms doctor
User:yes doctor i am here
User:is it a viral rash doctor?
Doctor:Are you running fever?
User:no doctor i keep measuring temperature three times a day
User:it ranges from 36 celcius to 37 celcius
Doctor:If you have no symptoms of fever, body weakness, generalised ache and other prodromol complaints it is less likely to be from a virus.
Doctor:The location of the rash and sudden appearance of this rash either points towards allergic or infective condition.
Doctor:I would just watch over the rash for now.
Doctor:You can apply layer of claritin lotion on the affected area.
Doctor:If the rash develops/spreads further I would like you to be investigated for other specific causes.
User:sure doctor
User:is Clindamycin ointment works for this?
Doctor:Mouth ulcer may or may not be related. Add some multivitamin supplements one pill a day for 2 weeks.
Doctor:Clindamycin would work great if this is from a fungal infection. Since its very faint on the picture
Doctor:i am unable to clearly confirm this possibility at this point of time.
User:I had unprotected sex with a friend of mine on 8th March
User:so when I read online blogs about mouth ulcer and rash I started worrying as it could be life threatening
Doctor:I am sorry, I just misread your previous statement.
User:is Claritin available over the counter in the UK?
Doctor:Clindamycin is an antibiotic. I would prefer that you avoid it until a doctor rules out fungal infection.
Doctor:Using an antibiotic on a fungal infection can sometime worsen the problem.
User:sure doctor I will avoid using clindamycin
Doctor:Claritin contents loratidine (which is an antihistamine by nature). As per my latest knowledge it is available over the counter.
Doctor:you can check with the local pharmacist.
User:ok doctor
User:so this rash is definitely not a STD related?
Doctor:If it isn't you can ask for a different generic antihistamine lotion.
Doctor:I am sure another they will have one of it.
User:ok doctor
Doctor:At this instant, more than using this lotion I would be more interested in watching the progress of rash.
User:how long will it take to clear off doctor?
Doctor:If its starts to worsen, I would refer you to the nearest dermatologist for evaluation.
Doctor:Based on what I see, it looks from an irritant condition to me. Small rashes from such irritations gradually fade away in a day or two.
User:just for my peace of mind could you please let me know if the rash is not STD?
Doctor:This is unlikely from STD. The location of this rash is so uncommon if it is related to STD.
Doctor:So don't be worried about STD per se.
Doctor:Watch over it.
User:sure doctor
Doctor:Continue using antihistamines.
User:thank you I was so woored last three days depressed
User:can i still take cetrizine 10mg tablet and use claritin lotion?
Doctor:If you have no issues with 1 table of cetrizine, there is no harm in taking them for couple of days more.
Doctor:Some people don't like the drowsy effects with it.
User:ok doctor
User:thank you so much for your help doctor
Doctor:Most welcome.
Doctor:Thanks for visiting me here. Bye for now.
