User:Hi Doctor
Doctor:I am XXXX Please proceed with your query
User:I have a query about my 6 year old daughter
User:initially she seemed to have mosquito bites on her body
User:which started increasing in numbers
User:when we took her to the peadatrician, he gave atarax
User:it reduced as long as she took the meds but started getting itchy after meds were stopped
User:the doc then sent us to a skin specialist
User:he then gave Allegra syrup for 1 week and Propynate NF ointment for 10 days
User:things seem to have reduced.. except for 4 or 5 such allergy / insect bites on her body
User:Can we continue to give Allegra for few more days.. and apply the ointment for few more days.... so that the remaining bites also go away?
Doctor:I think the bites will go away now
User:or is it harmful to continue to give allegra / apply ointment for more duration than prescribed
Doctor:Even if you do not give the medicine
Doctor:Allegra can cause drowsiness
User:oh ok
Doctor:so it should be given in moderation
User:but she gets itchy without meds
User:wud only ointment suffice in that case?
Doctor:How long have you been using ointment on her
User:for 10 days now
Doctor:IT should not be used for more than 10 days
User:2 times a day
User:oh ok
Doctor:The reason is that it can cause skin thinning
User:so shd i just leave it as is for now... and monitor for next few days?
Doctor:If the rash is on skin that is thicker it can be used longer
Doctor:But if the rash is on thin skin like face we have to be more careful
User:ok.. it is only on torso and limbs
Doctor:It can be reduced to once a day
User:sure doctor
User:may be 4 to 5 days like this?
Doctor:Also take the opinion of your treating doctor
User:sure doctor... let me check this for few more days.. 1 time a day
User:sure doctor
User:will check his opinion if this doesnt reduce
User:thanks a lot
Doctor:Thanks for coming on chat
Doctor:Take care
