User:I have a new born baby girl about 53 days old
User:I have vaccine chart from local doctor
User:I was wondering if all of them are necessary
Doctor:There are few optional vaccinations such as hepatitis A, rotavirus, chicken pox vaccines and so on which can be listed in the chart.
Doctor:However most of the vaccines listed are important and can be life saving at times.
User:what is PCV1
Doctor:It a pneumococcal vaccines that prevents child from serious pneumonia
Doctor:'1' stands for first dose of vaccine.
Doctor:It stands for DPT which prevents against diptheria, pertussis and tetanus.
Doctor:This vaccines is available as painful and painless vaccine.
Doctor:DTaP is the painless form.
User:and lastly IPV1
Doctor:This one is injectable polio vaccines.
Doctor:Earlier IAP recommended only oral vaccine for protecting polio
User:should I opt for polio drops rather than injection
Doctor:however the recent changes has suggested better effective protection if child is vaccinated with injectable along with oral polio vaccine.
Doctor:I mean recent studies suggested better effectiveness.
Doctor:Therefore please go with them.
User:the reason is that last time doc gave 2 injections on each thigh and costed 3600 and next month he is saying it will be 7000, I think the cost is a lot.
User:also too much injections for the infant
Doctor:As a physician who don't immunize infants, I am unsure if there is going to a cheaper variety of vaccinations. You could opt for immunization at a government centres such as government medical colleges

Doctor:As per the guideliness, at 3 months I suggest the child be vaccinated with DTP (any form), Hib, pneumococcal and IPV.
Doctor:Rotavirus vaccination is also recommended; but few centres don't mention them in the schedule.
