User :   Hi
Doctor :   Hi
User :   Hi Doc, I have a medical query. Help me... my query is My sister 20 years old is a patient of SLE for last 8 years. She is on steriod therapy for last 6 years. Now she had problem of pain in stomach and vomiting, 4 times in a month. We went to our Family Doc, he suggested us for Sonography. And he found a 10 mm stone inside Gall Bladder. Can you guide us "what will be the next best step" should we go for surgery if yes educate me about the surgery...
Doctor :   let me readur query
User :   please
Doctor :   From the history given, presence of a single stone , of 1cm , in the gall bladdder , can be managed conservatively
Doctor :   On the other hand, if the symptoms are recurrent, and of severe, nature, surgery may be an option
Doctor :   since she has symptoms for 4 times , it seems that the stone might have blocked the ducts of the gall bladder
User :   ok
User :   doc, do you mean to say we should go for the surgery ?
Doctor :   may i know the patients age ?
User :   20 years old
Doctor :   since she has SLE, and also on steroid therapy, chances of recurrance of stones might be high
Doctor :   so surgeyr would be a good option in her case
User :   she is Waysolone, Eptoin and some anti-malerial drug too
User :   she is on*
User :   i guess its HCQS
Doctor :   That is fine , and can continue them
User :   ok
User :   can u please educate me about the surgery and its side effects later
Doctor :   the surgery is simple, and is done laparoscopically
User :   i heard thay are going to remove the Whole bladder rather than removing the stone
Doctor :   yes, since a incision is being done, and the chances of recurrances are high, it is better to remove the source fo trouble rather than do a repeat surgery at a later date
User :   ok
User :   how will it affect the life, if we remove the bladder ?
Doctor :   that is not going to affect a person in any manner , as the Gall bladder function are comparatively minimal and a person can do without it
User :   ok
User :   do you suggest something as your special comments, if we want to go for this surgery. Considering patient is also having SLE ?
Doctor :   what do you mean by special comments ?
Doctor :   I have already mentioned that, SLE patients on steroids can have more recurrent attacks
User :   ok
Doctor :   hence surgery is helpful to avoid them
User :   i heard Anesthesia may also show some bad result while operating, is it ?
Doctor :   no
Doctor :   since ur sister is young, the chances of side effects are less
User :   ohh
User :   what would be the cost for this surgery? and can you suggest a good place (anywhere in india) to get it done ?
Doctor :   the cost of surgery WOULD be around 15 -25 K
Doctor :   u can get it done in any place,
Doctor :   example Marthas hospital in bangalore is a good hospital
User :   Marthas ?
Doctor :   Yeah
Doctor :   its on Nrupathunga road, opposite RBI
User :   is it St.Martha's Hospital, Bangalore?
User :   any particular Doctor?
Doctor :   You can see a General surgeon or a gastroenterologist there
User :   ok
Doctor :   you can meet Dr in the general surgery dept
Doctor :   she can guide you well there
User :   Dr. Vidya? can i mention your personal reference?
Doctor :   Yes
User :   ohhh
User :   if you do not mind can i have Dr. Vidya's mobile number ?
Doctor :   Sorry, I do not have it on my person
User :   is she the same Dr. who was working with HCM OR ?
Doctor :   No
Doctor :   she is not the one
User :   ok
User :   ok
User :   thanks a lot doctor
User :   Good Night !
Doctor :   You are welcome
Doctor :   Hope your sister gets well soon
User :   thanks for your wishes doctor.
