User :   I have been running a fever up to 102.7 for 48 hrs and have mild stomach cramping, headache, and diarrhea which began about 6 hrs ago. Do I have the flu, or could it be food poisoning, or something else?
Doctor :   Hi,
User :   Hi
Doctor :   Is the fever continuous ?
User :   yes, I have been taking Tylenol and it brings it down to around 98.4, but after 5-6 hrs it goes back up to 100 deg or more
User :   it began friday night shortly after i had a burger from a fast food place
Doctor :   ok, Are the stools watery ?
User :   not sure what they are
User :   i guess it would be watery
Doctor :   ok, do you see any blood or mucus in the stools ?
User :   no
Doctor :   ok, Do you feel nauseated ?
User :   no
User :   i just don't have an appetite
Doctor :   Ok,
Doctor :   Do you feel thirsty ?
User :   not really
User :   i have to force myself to drink fluids
Doctor :   ok,
Doctor :   Can you explain me about the food you had since two days ?
Doctor :   i mean any outside food, feast etc ?
User :   just some chicken noodle soup, some crackers and half of a turkey sandwich
Doctor :   ok, i think you may have enteritis either by viral or bacterial infection , bacterial being a likely possibility
User :   ok, is that something that will go away on it's own, or do i need to see a dr?
Doctor :   i would suggest you to avoid spicy and hard foods for next 3 days
Doctor :   and have plenty of fluids with sugar and salt in some of them
User :   ok
Doctor :   have fruit juices and malt like foods
Doctor :   and also take ISABGOL powder in a glass of milk twice a day for one day
User :   where do you get that? any store or drug store?
Doctor :   if it subsides along with the complete relief from the fever with tylenol , then you may not need to rush to dr
User :   the fever is a little lower today than it has been
Doctor :   yes, you will get ISABGOL in any drug store without prescription
Doctor :   good, then wait for a day following the treatment i suggested
User :   ok
Doctor :   if it do not subside then you may need a stool test
User :   ok
Doctor :   and appropriate antibiotics
User :   what is enteritis?
User :   i've never heard of it
Doctor :   Its infection of the intestines
User :   how do you get it?
Doctor :   I rule out gatritis , as you have no nausea and vomiting
Doctor :   and since you have fever its a sign of infection
User :   right
Doctor :   and in viral the fever will be for only one episode
Doctor :   but bacterial will recur after tylenols effect wear off
User :   ah
Doctor :   And the head ache is due to fever and loss of water from body in stools
Doctor :   and the stomach cramp is due to vigorous movements of the intestines and stomach contraction
User :   yeah, that is what it feels like, just movement
User :   not sharp cramps, more of a rumbling
Doctor :   yes, then its clear that its due to intestinal fast movement
Doctor :   that happens as a reflex to the infection
User :   right
Doctor :   maintain good hydration with juices and malts
User :   ok
Doctor :   also drink water after boiling
User :   oh ok
Doctor :   avoid packed foods
User :   packed?
Doctor :   avoid spicy foods
Doctor :   i mean tinned / packeted / processed / those prepared long back and packeted available in stores
User :   ok, i understand
Doctor :   Is there anythin i can help you with ?
User :   i think that is it, you have helped a lot, thank you
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me , kindly provide your feedback
Doctor :   Bye for now
Doctor :   Take care
User :   bye, you too
