User :   I have had cervical cancer, 10 years ago i had communication between the rectum & vaginal wall, this was repaired as well as repair on perforated bladder. i recently began bladder leakage as well as passing gas thru the urethra .... now what?
Doctor :   Hi
User :   hi
Doctor :   Let me read the query to be able to have a good discussion
Doctor :   I believe you have had a rectovaginal fistula which was operated
Doctor :   Now you have a vesicorectal fistula
Doctor :   which should again be repaired
User :   correct
User :   is that the only course of action
Doctor :   yes
User :   only gaas is passing at this time
Doctor :   Rectovesical fistulas are frequently associated with malignancy
Doctor :   Yes you have incontinency also because you might have lost the sphincteric action
Doctor :   If you can meet Onco Urologist they should be able to do justice to you
User :   what is the difference between vesiorectal & rectovesical
User :   i am new to the new jersey area and do not have dr here
Doctor :   both are the same
User :   malignancy - so possible return of cancer or just the outcome of the radiation ?
Doctor :   It could be an outcome of radiation most often
User :   will a catherer & time be necessary to heal prior to surgury or can it be done quickly
Doctor :   Do you mean to ask me if you have time or should it be done quickly?
User :   well that too
Doctor :   It should be done as soon as possible as I believe
Doctor :   However much can be commented by a physical examination by a Urologist
Doctor :   For the other question, I do not have a finer answer as it requires a sub specialist to answer
User :   but with the other i had to have a catherer & ieliostomy 1st, prior to repair surgery
Doctor :   Ok, I believe there was much ongoing inflammation
Doctor :   which was not the right time to do surgery
Doctor :   hence the inflammation should subside to go for surgery
Doctor :   other wise the sutures and the procedure of surgery is tough
User :   hmmmm so here we go again :)
Doctor :   Hence a prior procedure like Ileostomy is done
Doctor :   to heal the inflmmation before the surgery is taken up
Doctor :   In case you wish to ask a specialist Urologist, you may do it here
User :   what would happen if i do nothing
Doctor :   Your quality of life is compromised
User :   it has been for years
Doctor :   Ok
User :   ok thanks
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me
Doctor :   Bye for now
