Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :
How can I help you?
User :   Hello
User :   Yes we are really have a problem with my father and having Anxiety attacks. He had a stroke alittle over 3 weeks ago and is really doing bad during the nights.
User :   Is this pretty common?
Doctor :   Ok

Doctor :
May I know his age?
User :   Yes 55
Doctor :   Ok

Doctor :
How has the course been after stroke attack?
User :   He had a hemmorraghic stroke, no paralysis whatsoever, some speech problems but that has improved abit. But his strength is not all there. He's been pushing himselve to get better.
Doctor :
Ok
Doctor :
Was he hospitalized for the same?
User :   Yes he was hospitalized for 2 weeks for the stroke.
Doctor :   Ok

Doctor :
Strength shall be regained over a period of time
User :   Okay
Doctor :   Now what his presentation at nights?

User :   Is the lack of strength from the stroke? or lack of mobility while in the hospital?
User :   Presentation?
Doctor :   Lack of strength is due to stroke

User :   Okay
Doctor :
as the part recognized shall loose its tone
Doctor :
but recovery is positive
Doctor :
though not to full extent
Doctor :   Are you getting it?

User :   Sorry there I was on the phone
Doctor :   Ok

User :   Okay, the neurologist did put him on Valium 5mg temporarly and did mention that he will look at putting him on something more permanent. Does this sound right?
Doctor :   Now he has to be relaxed well

Doctor :
so Valium is a good option
User :   Okay good.
Doctor :
for further prevention, do discuss about aspirin use with the Neurologist
User :   I think he is on 81MG of Aspirin right now, now that you mentioned it.
Doctor :   Now his further treatment is a multispeciality directed

User :   You mean such as physical therapy and pschotherapy?
Doctor :   Along with Neurologist, he shall need support from Psychiatrist, Occupational therapist and Physical therapist as well
Doctor :
Right
Doctor :
Glad you are aware of it
User :   I was thinking along those same lines lol
Doctor :   Ok

Doctor :
He also needs emotional support from the family members
Doctor :
Treat him well
Doctor :
Show to him that you care for his health and concern
User :   I do know that the physcial therapy part was turned down by my moms insurance.
Doctor :   Communication should be clear as there can be distractions in his hearing functions

Doctor :
So you should not get irritated if he is not able to hear you
Doctor :
these are simple things
User :   Okay
Doctor :
but does have an impact on his recovery
Doctor :
too much of noise shall make him very irritated
Doctor :
so should take care of that as well
Doctor :
He will be more sensitive to certain issues
User :   YES, he does complain when he hears unusual noises.
Doctor :   Right

Doctor :
So take care of the contributing factors to provide support
Doctor :
Support is very very important
User :   We've definatly been trying. There is just alot of other people that live with him as well.
Doctor :   Ok

User :   That is why I'm on this website now so I can share some stuff with him to explain what he is going through.
Doctor :   Sure

User :   He keeps saying he doesn't understand why he feels like he does. He is aware of the stroke part but the emotions he has little knowledge why he feels like that.
Doctor :   Yes

Doctor :
do tell him that the brain is a vital area
User :   Okay
Doctor :
and slight disturbance in it shall have an impact on many functions
Doctor :
and it is just a passing phase as well
Doctor :
He shall improve once the healing process progresses
User :   Now the Neurologist said something about a hematoma in the brain will shift around in the brain which will affect certain parts of his speech and other areas. Does this sound right and how long does that go on for?
Doctor :   Yes
Doctor :
Preventive care shall prevent it
Doctor :
Some people who are having a stroke can benefit from an injection of tissue plasminogen activator (TPA)

Doctor :
has your doctor given that injection?
User :   No. No injection was given. They said the bleed was pretty small and they said messing with it can create more problems than just letting it be absorbed. Sound right?
Doctor :   Ya, for bleed problem, surgical methods are also considered

Doctor :
Did your doctor consider him for one?
User :   No they were not infavor of any surgery at all. To be honest with you, I think due to the lack of insurance coverage my father had they probably were trying to go the cheapest route. My mom only had a supplemental insurance.
Doctor :
Ok
Doctor :
