Doctor :   Hi,
Doctor :
User :   Hi
User :   This thing is really annoying me my hands go into spasm and if I have something in my hand I'm afraid I'll drop it.
User :   What could it be?
Doctor :   It could be due to nerve compression which is one common occurrence in a bifid spine
Doctor :   probably at the level of itervertebral discs
User :   What does that mean?
User :   The consultant did an MRI and couldn't see anything.
Doctor :   discs are the plate like structures present between every vertebral bone to reduce the friction between each bone
User :   I have some arthritis in my back.
Doctor :   some times either due to infection or stretch the disc do get dislodged a little from there place and compress the nerve roots nearer to them
Doctor :   yes, that can aggrevate this
User :   What can be done to help it's very painful when it happens.
User :   and sometimes embarrassing cos if I have something in my hand I drop it or the grip is so strong I can't put the object down.
Doctor :   Muscle relaxants are the solution
User :   I've tried them they don't work if it's really bad usually when I'm stressed or anxious.
User :   I have a tendency towards anxiety.
Doctor :   yes, you my have to consult a neurologist who can examine the limbs and determine the extent of involvement , based on which treatment can be planned
