User :   im taking 80 mg propranolol for migraines. is it ok to use smokeless tobacco occasionally (2-3 times a week) while taking this drug?
Doctor :   Hi,
User :   hello
Doctor :   its completely contraindicated
User :   what does that mean?
Doctor :   smoking is forbidden in Migraines
Doctor :   also the risk depends on the extent of exposure
Doctor :   since Migraine is a vascular defect , smoking can aggravate the pain
Doctor :   Are you there ?
User :   ya
User :   i guess that isnt the answer i was hoping for, ha. i like to use smokeless tobacco on weekend night while i watch tv.
Doctor :   Smoke less tobacco has low risk but not totally risk free
User :   i read to avoid alchohol as well while taking this drug, but it is ok in moderation. i was hoping maybe the same with tobacco as long as i dont use it all the time.
Doctor :   i agree
Doctor :   but as i said its not completely risk free
User :   so you think using the tobacco in moderation would be ok, but not risk free?
Doctor :   yes,
User :   i guess i was just worried that the tobacco might have a severe affect in combination with the drug
Doctor :   no , there would be not interaction with the drug
Doctor :   but has direct effect on the illness ( migraine )
User :   ok, thanks for your help.
Doctor :   You are welcome
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me
Doctor :   Bye for now
Doctor :   Take care
