Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :
How can i help you?
User :   Hello
User :   I was hoping for a urologist
Doctor :
I am a general practitioner
Doctor :
I believe i can help you within my expertise
User :   alight
User :   alright, rather
User :   I am a 31 year old male, and about 6 months ago I fell asleep with an erection, woke up with one, and then noticed it didn't go down. It didn't hurt so I didn't worry about priapism
Doctor :
Ok
User :   it lasted for anywhere from 12 to 18 hours, and never hurt, but then the next day it did hurt
Doctor :
Ok
User :   like a dull ache. I went to the doctor, and he told me that it was probably a slight priapism that just caused me to be sore
User :   told me to take pain killers and it would go away in a week
Doctor :
Ok
User :   so it did, but two months later my penis got this dull ache again
User :   I have been to many urologists, they can't feel fibrosis or scaring, and nothing showed up on a doppler at four months
Doctor :   May i know your age?
User :   nothing has shown, but I still have the pain
User :   31
User :   I am worried still that some sort of fibrosis may still be developing slowly. Just worried, I have no reason to think so
User :   except that I still have the pain
Doctor :
Are you married?
User :   no
Doctor :   Are you sexually active.
User :   sometimes
User :   so yes
Doctor :
Ok
Doctor :
Do you notice any problems in sexual life
Doctor :
apart from the pain?
User :   no, except the pain
User :   no
Doctor :   Were all the reports and test normal?
User :   yes, but I took them at four months after the priapism
User :   so is that enough time to detect any fibrosis?
Doctor :
Do you have any other medical problems?
User :   no
Doctor :
Ok
Doctor :   Fibrosis is diagnosed on a histopathological examination only
Doctor :
There are no blood test that can diagnose fibrosis
Doctor :
Hence if fibrosis has to be ruled out
Doctor :   The cause for pain could be secondary to neurological or vascular pathology
Doctor :
Are you following?
User :   yes
Doctor :
Ok
User :   but has it been ruled out?
User :   I mean, is 4 or 5 months enough time for some doctor to feel my penis and go "ok, no fibrosis"
Doctor :   If the doppler, neurological examination and the blood tests were normal then it has been ruled out.
User :   or a doppler at 4 months...
Doctor :
Yes
Doctor :
They can pick up changes in the blood vessels
User :   right. I knew that, but I was wondering if it would develop so slowly that four months wouldn't be an accurate time frame
Doctor :   Have you had a neurological examination done too?
User :   no, no one has suggested one
Doctor :
Ok
Doctor :
I shall suggest you these?
User :   k
Doctor :
1. You can get a neurological examination done to rule out any spinal problem
Doctor :
2. Blood tests to see if you have any hematological problems
Doctor :
3. Avoid stress and stop worrying much
Doctor :   Worries and anxiety can worsen the problems
Doctor :
Get back to us with these reports
User :   ok, well I can check those things, but its hard to ignore the closeness between the priapism and the pain
Doctor :   4 months is a long time for a diagnosis of priapism
Doctor :
as they will result in complications
User :   are you pretty close to sure that the priapism didn't start fibrosis that wouldn't have appeared by now?
Doctor :
As you do not seem to have any other complications\
Doctor :
The chances of priapism and fibrosis is unlikely.
User :   I mean, I know you aren't psychic, but your best guess is no fibrosis?
Doctor :
Yes
Doctor :
It does not seem to be one.
Doctor :
But you can get these examination done\
Doctor :
Get back to us with the reports and we shall be abke to guide you better.
Doctor :
Have you followed?
User :   well I know I had a priapism. That I know. I just want to make sure that the pain is something I need to worry about causing ED down the road
User :   yes, just wanting to be clear
Doctor :
If all the test are normal and if there is no associated spinal problems
Doctor :
then you should not be facing any complications.
User :   ok, thanks
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   not for now
