User :   Hi

I have skipped beats. I can be at rest, working out or stressed out and they happen. It is a a pause followed by a noticed beat and poof it is gone. I am 36 and have mod high bp. I am on 20 mg benecar, astelin, singulair. I had blood work and all was ok. Aic was good also. There is no hdisease in my family at all. Mymom and dad are 73and 68. I had my cholesterol checked 6 months ago but the doc said it was a little high just watch what I eat. I had a 2 ekg and they were fine. I went to a cardiologist and he suggested a echo and a stress test. Do u think I need those?
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :
Let me read through the paragraph
Doctor :
Since when have you noticed this?
User :   umfor 3 months also, ai take my bp at home 100 times for my prim doc and it is 120 over 68 avg and my normal pulse at rest is 64 also the avg of the 100 readings
Doctor :
Ok.
Doctor :
Do you have any other symptoms apart from the missing pulse that you feel?
User :   No sir none at all I feel great!! It is just very unsettling. Not dizzy not ligh headed. It seems very common I just want some kind of assurance
Doctor :
Ok.
Doctor :
How often do you feel that missing beat?
Doctor :
Is it very regular?
Doctor :
If it is regular then how often?
User :   It depends, If I am streesed quite a bit but maybe 15 to 20 a day
Doctor :
Ok.
Doctor :
Have you seen a doctor for this/
Doctor :
What kind of heart problems does your family have?
Doctor :
Missing beats which does not cause any symptoms is not of a major concern.
User :   Yes a cardiologist he did all blood tests an ekg and it was all a ok 3 month a1c was good also
Doctor :
It usually happens if there is a conduction problem in the heart.
User :   is a stress test and an echo needed
Doctor :
this can happen to some individuals and the cause for such a block is not known.
Doctor :
Since the EKG is normal it means that you do not have any major conduction block.
User :   if there were and blockages would there b and symptoms
Doctor :
However any structural problems in the heart which may cause such blocks are not diagnosed in the EKG.
Doctor :
Those need special tests such as ECHO and stress test.
User :   well ia have had 3 ekgs but this skip has not shown up on there either
Doctor :   Major conduction blocks do produce symptoms.
Doctor :
A few may not though.
Doctor :
SInce the EKG is normal it suggest that no conduction blocks are the cause for the blocks.
User :   welloverall I am sure u hear this often is it rare for someone my age to need stints or other major surgery
Doctor :
The reason the cardiologist suggested the other test are to look for any structural problems or due to a vessel block that may have caused these missing beats.
Doctor :
It is in the best interest of you.
User :   If a conduction block is not on a ekg does thta suggest that there are no blocks
User :   if it is a vessel block what are the treatments
Doctor :   By conduction block i meant the neurological pathway of impulses that happen in the heart.
Doctor :
this is defferent from the vessel blocks, which occurs due to blockage in the blood vessels.
Doctor :
They tend to happen in some one who has high cholesterol, hypertension and diabetes.
Doctor :
And since you say you have a family history too, you have many risk factors
Doctor :   And so it would be good if you can get those test done to see.
User :   well listening to me and I appreciate it!!! do you think it more towards the benighn side and i do not have any family history of heart issues I asked
Doctor :
Since the blocks are not frequent and you do not have any symptoms, I feel that these problems are not serious and are benign.
Doctor :
But since you have multiple risk factors, it is not that cannot be neglected.
Doctor :   Hence those tests.
Doctor :
Have you followed?
Doctor :   * SInce you have multiple risk factors
Doctor :
it is not something that can be neglected.
Doctor :
Sorry for the grammatical error.
Doctor :
Hope it is clear now.
User :   yes i have i appreciate your time ! I will go get them done if anything for my wife and kids
Doctor :   What is the age of your wife and does she have any diabetes, hypertension or high cholesterol?

User :   She is 26 no diab or high blood pressure. Well if i gripe and moan then at that point probably!!
Doctor :
Ok.
Doctor :
She may not require those tests, but get her evaluated for any risk factors.
Doctor :
I mean keep her sugar and BP and the cholesterol levels checked frequently.
Doctor :
may be once a year for the sugars and BP once a year.

Doctor :
And you may have to treat it accordingly
