User :   I have been seeing an ENT doctor since November and we are looking at doing sinus surgery after failed non surgical treatments. I do have very inflamed sinuses, Max retentions cycts on both side (which from what I hear doesn't really mean anything) Deviated septum, lots of right ear pain, and sore for the past three days my right side submandibular gland has been getting more painful and harder to the touch, but no much visual swelling....can this just be another progression of the sinus issues?? I have no fever and don't really feel sick, well sicker, I have always felt as if I have a slight sinus infection sinse this started i guess due to inflamation and irritation, and post nasal drip
Doctor :   HELLO
User :   Hello
Doctor :   let me read your query, please give me a few minutes
Doctor :   from the history given it seems that you have a complicated sinusitis and otitis media associated with a deviated nasal septum
Doctor :   most of these issues are due to the presence of the deviated nasal septum and hypertrohied septum, that is blocking the drainage of the sinuses
Doctor :   and if not treated effectively, the condition will be going on with recurrent infections
Doctor :   the best way forward is repair of the Deviated nasal septum , by septal surgery and ...
Doctor :   removal of the infected mucus membrane in the sinuses, by FESS, functional endoscopic sinus surgery
Doctor :   once these measures are undertaken, the symptoms will subside and get better altogether
Doctor :   i hope you have understood my comments so far
User :   That is the plan to go in and fix the septuma and "trim" some the the sinus.....since this has gone on so long could this be why I am now having problems with my submandibular gland?? I hav emy follow up with ENT end of the week, but if I should get this new development looked at sooner...Thank you
Doctor :   yes
Doctor :   that is the reason for the enlarged glands
Doctor :   a course of antibiotics will help to treat the infection , prior to surgery
User :   Thank you for your time, I appreciate it!
Doctor :   you are most welcome
Doctor :   take care and have a good day
Doctor :   bye for now
