User :   hello, i need to get info on the mirena birth control.... i am wondering if there are any side effects.. mostly with mood changes and moodiness

User :   no my daughter in law got it inserted about 5 months ago and the last 3 months she has had the worst mood swings ever. anger aggitated and suicidal

The most common side effect associated with Mirena is a change in menstrual patterns.
Doctor :   although some of them may experience weight gain, decreased sex drive and major depression.

User :   just this evening she did.... but for a while now she has been very emotional, or angry, very confused feeling.. and like you said self loathing ( about her appearance) and yes she feels trapped in her marriage but does not want a divorce.
