User :   My 4 week old baby son got chicken pox. Within 24 hrs i took him to the
paediatrician who prescribed him a Zovirax(acyclovir) syrup with doses
0.75ml 4 times daily. When i started this syrup, my son doesn't seem to be
comfortable and there was a sign of colic activities, so i cut down the
doses and some times skipped a day too. In my next OPD visit doctor again
prescribe to continue for nex 7 days with same no of doses. My baby
already recoved from chicken pox in 4-5 days.
I want know how much does of zovirax is necessay for such a infant? Is he
not getting over doses? Is the gap in doses has to do anything? Is there
any side effect of this syrup?
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   it should be given 20mg/kg/dose
Doctor :   4 times daily
Doctor :   it comes around 80mg/kg/day
Doctor :   interval between each dose 6 hrs
