User:Hello Doctor
Doctor:How can I help you?
User:I have a baby of 3 weeks now
User:just want to know couple of things
User:1- I read one article saying never shake the baby, what exactly it means
User:what shaking means?
Doctor:Shaking is just like any shaking. Moving the baby vigorously especially the neck / head needs to be avoided.
Doctor:Have you followed?
Doctor:Are you there?
User:did not get in general ppl do like just holding baby on sitting position, holding his head supporting the thigh and slightly making up and down the thigh
User:it that ok..
User:or holding in arms and moving our are slowing..will that fine
Doctor:At this point, I would like to inform you that, the child is 3 weeks only
Doctor:carrying and lifting the baby should be done only by trained and experienced people
Doctor:You can only be able to learn about the way of lifting by looking at people carrying the baby.
User:or putting baby on knee and gently moving...are these comes under shaking?
Doctor:It would be extremely difficult to explain the way of lifting and carrying the child.
User:as these are gentle move where we are holding head alltime
User:can you pls site some exactly example of shaking...
Doctor:Shaking generally refers to shaking head.
Doctor:Since neck muscles are weak, shaking head can result in neck injuries.
User:for example how we do in real all these, any example
User:what i had given above its all gentle move..holding head...but i think shaking is done not holding the head or severe up/down on the head
Doctor:Any movements that shakes babies head violently is the best example I can site.
Doctor:Movement of legs and whole body with head being stable is fine. it
Doctor:Do you have any other query?
