User:About 15 years ago during a colonoscopy I was described as having a "generous sized ileum". I had a subsequent colonoscopy (8years ago) without mention. I had another colonoscopy to day and the Dr. took a biopsy of the ileum because of it's size. I am a-symptomatic (no pain, no cramping, no blood in stools and regular movements). I won't have the results of the biopsy for 2 weeks. Is this cause for concern (the only other colon findings were hemorrhoids and diverticulum (no polyps, etc.).
Doctor:Hello
User:Nice to talk to you. By the way todays exam was just a routine physical - no problems indicated before hand
Doctor:I wouldn't consider this to be of any concern
Doctor:Okay
Doctor:that is reassuring
User:It is. Is it just normal for me?
Doctor:As you have noted in your question that you have had this rather large ileum since 15 years, and the recent colonoscopy doesn't say anything about any other abnormality
Doctor:I would say it is normal for you
User:Thank you Dr. XXXXXXX It is good for peace of mind.
Doctor:If there were any changes at all in the ileum I would have been worried
Doctor:but since there are no changes from your initial colonoscopy, you can just let it go
Doctor:Yes, it is indeed, knowing that things are not unusual does give peace of mind
Doctor:It was my pleasure to help you with your question
Doctor:is there anything at all that I can do for you?
User:Thank you. I assume there were no significant changes (he didn't specify) but as I said, I have had no symptoms. I believe Crohn's and ileitis would have manifested with symptoms.
Doctor:Yes
Doctor:of course they do manifest with symptoms
User:Thank you again - have a nice day.
Doctor:and your doctor would have been very particular if he had found anything abnormal
Doctor:You are most welcome
Doctor:Thanks for using the service
Doctor:have a great day ahead
Doctor:bye
