Should i be concerned about colonoscopy not showing past ileum? - Online Doctor Chats
About 15 years ago during a colonoscopy I was described as having a "generous sized ileum". I had a subsequent colonoscopy (8years ago) without mention. I had another colonoscopy to day and the Dr. took a biopsy of the ileum because of it's size. I am a-symptomatic (no pain, no cramping, no blood in stools and regular movements). I won't have the results of the biopsy for 2 weeks. Is this cause for concern (the only other colon findings were hemorrhoids and diverticulum (no polyps, etc.).
Nice to talk to you. By the way todays exam was just a routine physical - no problems indicated before hand
I wouldn't consider this to be of any concern
that is reassuring
It is. Is it just normal for me?
As you have noted in your question that you have had this rather large ileum since 15 years, and the recent colonoscopy doesn't say anything about any other abnormality
I would say it is normal for you
Thank you Dr. XXXXXXX It is good for peace of mind.
If there were any changes at all in the ileum I would have been worried
but since there are no changes from your initial colonoscopy, you can just let it go
Yes, it is indeed, knowing that things are not unusual does give peace of mind
It was my pleasure to help you with your question
is there anything at all that I can do for you?
Thank you. I assume there were no significant changes (he didn't specify) but as I said, I have had no symptoms. I believe Crohn's and ileitis would have manifested with symptoms.
of course they do manifest with symptoms
Thank you again - have a nice day.
and your doctor would have been very particular if he had found anything abnormal
You are most welcome
Thanks for using the service
have a great day ahead
