Doctor :
give me 1 minute i am going through ur chat history
User :   ok thank you.
Doctor :   u there?
User :   yes
Doctor :
u are suffering from spinal ache due to disc prolapse
Doctor :
?
User :   correct.
Doctor :
u are on treatment for more than a year?
User :   I am on narcotic pain med thats all and vitamin supplements
User :   My dr doesnt believe i need to see a spine or neuro surgeon
User :   My specialist for the osteo said he cannot help me, that im so young with a condition so severe and for the osteo all the medicine is post menipos
Doctor :   basically in disc prolapse there is pressure on the nerve endings which will lead to unbearable pain while bending and sending

User :   i am now being referred to an endocrinologist
User :   i am in severe pain day and night and tingling in my fingers now i am also experiancing pain in my neck now
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :

Doctor :
shortness of breath ..what did docor said regarding shortness of breath?
User :   that im not healthy thats why i am in pain
Doctor :   there are many endocrine glands in body like thyroid..they deal with the problems of those glands
User :   the osteo specialist did say if i see a spine specialist he will wanna do surgery so in that case i should not go and i should just go back in 4 months for a follow up
User :   my thyroid is fine. i had it checked
Doctor :   thoracic/lumbar spine?

User :   i am getting sent to the wrong specialist. my primary also thinks i should just go to the pain clinic and be healthy, its my thoracic
User :   t3-t9
Doctor :   two discs
Doctor :
?
User :   and my lumbar also has some nerve damage, i do not have a copy of that mri only the thoracic

User :   pinching and numbing and shooting pains with costant spasms in back
Doctor :   can i know ur age?
User :   29 year old female w/ -4 osteo
User :   and sheuermann's kyphosis which is exaggerated
Doctor :
this is because the pressure on the nerve..once the pressure is released u will be fine
User :   with degenerative disc disease
User :   with multiple disc hernitaion and broad-based disc bulge
Doctor :
ook
Doctor :
u are having this sheuermann's kyphosis from childhood
Doctor :   ?
User :   what does diisc herniation that effaces the ventral subrachnoid space and slightly deforms the anterior cord mean?
User :   im not sure
Doctor :   ok
User :   I have just now been informed of it
User :   and left paracentral disc herniation mean?
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :   i will explain u in detail
User :   ok thank you
Doctor :
Lumbar discs are composed of two main parts: a tough fibrous outer layer (annulus) and a jelly like inner part (nucleus). The discs act as shock absorbers and dissipate the force through the spine. All discs have sensory nerve endings in the outer portion of the disc and are known to be a potential source of back pain -
Doctor :   normal discs do not cause pain. Abnormal discs with either tears of the outer layer or a PROLAPSE WHICH MEANS A LEAKING (a leaking) of the jelly like inner part of the disc will cause pain. If the disc is 'bulging' because it is slightly degenerate or the prolapsed material is touching a spinal nerve pain will often be felt into the buttock and down the leg.
Doctor :
now did u understand what is disc and disc prolapse?
User :   oh ok yes
Doctor :   good
User :   i reciece alot of pain in the t7 area and down my left arm with tingling in the fingers and numbness as well as pains down my legs
Doctor :
anterior cord means it is a branch of the the big nerve by name spinal cord which runs in the vertebral coloumn
User :   and around my left side near the hip area
Doctor :
anterior cord mainly deals with the sensory function
User :   so what are the treatments for this condition
Doctor :
as u are having pressure on anterior cord u are hving numbness ,pain and so on
User :   i am recently recieving chronic neck pain for about 2 weeks as well now
Doctor :
u have curved spine instead of normal spine?
Doctor :
ok
User :   as if there is a ton of bricks on my neck
User :   I never recieved an upper mri of the spine
User :   only thoracic and lumbar
User :   my dr doesnt believe i need to see a spine or neuro surgeon i made an apt for tue and should i ask for a referral
Doctor :
ok
User :   i live in where there are great dr.
Doctor :
u have multiple disc prolapse
User :   I have been dealing with this for over 5 years and am not getting helped should i speak up more
Doctor :
ok
User :   maybe he doesnt realise how much pain i am in
Doctor :
do u have curved spine?
User :   yes i have sheuermann's disease with exaggeration kyphosis with scoliosis
User :   is that it?
User :   scoliosis isnt throughout the whole spine
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :
that is the main reason for ur multiple disc prolaps
User :   only the lumber and i believe upper thoracic
User :   what are they treatments would you happen to know?
Doctor :
it ok
Doctor :
there are few surgical methods which might help u
User :   I feel as i am too young for this type of pain. I am a single mother of a 9 year old and i manage 3 tanning salons which require alot of bending
Doctor :
in mild cases it is better u go for physiotherapy
Doctor :
1) Discectomy - surgical removal of part of the disc
User :   I have done physical therapy what is physiotherapy?
Doctor :   2) Microdiscectomy - use of magnification to view the disc and nerves during surgery
Doctor :   3) Chemonucleolysis - injection of an enzyme into a bulging spinal disc in an effort to reduce the size of the disc
User :   who should i ask to be reffered too? a neuro surgeon? or an orthopedic
User :   or spine specailist? i have no idea and my dr isnt helping any?
Doctor :   these are the three surgical measures normally under taken to relieve pain in disc pprolapse
Doctor :
u can see a neurosurgeon
User :   he only sent me to a pain clinic and a osteo specialist
Doctor :   pain treatment will temp give some relief
User :   which the osteo specialist said he cant help me
User :   some is right
Doctor :
but if u need permanent solution then surgery and physical therapy are the only options
User :   i have been on narcotics and non narcotic pain meds for 5 years
User :   but i dont want to be on either.
User :   it will get worse if it goes untreated correct?
Doctor :
narcotics are not good as they may lead to dependency on long term basis
Doctor :
yes
Doctor :
the pressure on the nerves should be relieved
User :   i been recieving cortozone shots they help only a little for lower back pain
Doctor :
the operation is ateam work which requires both nerurosurgeon and orthopaedician
User :   so i should prob ask to see a neuro surgeon
Doctor :
yes
User :   ok thank you
Doctor :
welcome
User :   my dr believes i need to be healthy and the pain will go away
User :   i am as healthy as can be i am not over weight i take vitamins and exercize daily
Doctor :   good
User :   but the pain is getting worse daily not better and i didnt know what to do next
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :
Scheuermann's kyphosis
User :   if i ask to see a neuro surgeon he has to refer me or no?
Doctor :   this is ur basic problem
Doctor :
yes he will
User :   and osteoporosis is a -4
Doctor :
if u have taken proper treatment for Scheuermann's kyphosis before u wldnt have been in this situation
User :   so this disease causes severe pain?
User :   i had to switch to 3 dr to recieve an mri
Doctor :   not that...
User :   and now i am being told its not that bad at all which i dont see how when i suffer so much everyday
User :   the discs?
User :   will the discs get worse untreated?
Doctor :   there are surgical procedures which may help u
User :   one dr says its severe and another says its not
Doctor :
it is severe
Doctor :
disc prolapse is a very painfull condition
User :   thank you form your honest answer
User :   thats all i was looking for the honest answer. is if was severe or not
Doctor :
morover u deveolped numbness which may lead to permanenet damage to ur nerves
Doctor :
welcome
User :   and knowing it is i will push for proper treatment
Doctor :
good
User :   permanent? thats not good
Doctor :
u share all ur symptoms in detail with neuro surgeon
User :   its weird some days the pain is worse in other areas
Doctor :
and also mention about Scheuermann's kyphosis ...to him
User :   i have my mri
Doctor :
ok
Doctor :   mri of lumbar spine?
User :   for thoracic i should ask for my lumber one as well for a copy?
User :   the neuro surgeon handles pain treatment and medication as well
User :   or the pain clinic only does that
Doctor :
he will give u opinion regarding surgical procedure
User :   i am on very high doses of oxycode imm release and i dont wanna be on it anymore
Doctor :
ok
User :   and i am in still alot of pain
Doctor :
i can understand

Doctor :
and one more thing
User :   you have been very halpful.
User :   ok
User :   u will recieve and excellence review from me if thats it
Doctor :
kyphosis the disorder can cause decreased lung and cardiac functions. The curve of the spine causes the chest to have less room inside the chest cavity. If the deformity is severe, the chest cannot expand fully when you breathe. Eventually, the heart can be affected by the poor lung function.
Doctor :
thanku very much
Doctor :
that is the reason u are having shortness of breath
User :   oh ok so thats the shortness of breath i am having
Doctor :
yes
User :   and my heart sometimes beats fast and skips is that from that
Doctor :
it can be corrected only by surgical procedure and physical therapy
User :   physical therapy will only help to a certain degree correct?
Doctor :
may be not because of that
User :   maybe stress than
User :   cause it is stressful not knowing
User :   thanks again'
Doctor :
yes and docor may give u a special type of brace by name Milwaukee brace. to come out of shortness of breath
