Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   how can i help you ?
User :   hello, i am a 21 year old female and two weeks ago i felt a sharp pain in my throat, on the right side
User :   and then mucus started to come out and i developed a sore throat
User :   i took medicine for it and it seemed to go away fine
Doctor :   ok
User :   my ears also bothered me
User :   slight discomfort so i took ear drops Simalasan
User :   the first time they alleviated my discomfort and my throat discomfort
Doctor :   Do you have any cough, fever, chest pain, ?
User :   i didnt have much of a cough or chest pain
Doctor :   ok
User :   i did have a fever but it went away
User :   then
User :   last week
User :   something in my throat just swelled up to the point that i couldnt talk
User :   my throat felt tight
User :   and 10 mins later a lot of mucus surfaced
User :   however i was eating a cashew and felt like a piece was stuck in my throat
User :   after the swelling went away a piece of cashew emerged
User :   ive still continued having some pain in my throat and yesterday
User :   i had discomofort along my jaw line
User :   also my ears are plugged
Doctor :   ok
User :   and the right side of my tongue feels sore
User :   im scared it may be cancer
Doctor :   it seems that you have a upper respiratory tract infection associated with a mild infection of the middle ear cavity
Doctor :   this is very common and associated with streptococcal infections
Doctor :   do u have any enlarged and painful glands in the jawline ?
User :   yes, it hurt for a bit
User :   then the discomfort went down
User :   but it still feels sore
Doctor :   do you have any hoarsness of your voice, difficulty swallowing , ?
User :   i can swallow fine, but on the right side it hurts to talk a bit
User :   the thing is, the discomfort is mostly on the right side, except that both ears are plugged
Doctor :   ok, this means that the condition is inflammatory and is not related to cancer
Doctor :   if this was cancerous, then the nodes would be very large and would have taken 2-4 months to develop and also painless
Doctor :   have you taken any medications so far ?
User :   robitussin which seemed to sort of alleviate it, but not really
User :   there is no cough
User :   just sinus
Doctor :   You might consider to take some advil 400 mg tablets for relief of the inflammation
Doctor :   and mucinex tablets 3 times a day, to break the mucus in the throat
User :   i took that yesterday however there was still some soreness in the right side of my tongue
User :   is that normal to still have discomfort after taking advil?
Doctor :   yes , it takes some time for the medication to work
Doctor :   usually 2-3 days are needed for the inflammation to settle down
User :   also, i feel like there's something in my throat that's stuck there
User :   but that just occurs sometimes
User :   like ill just feel something weird in my throat and mucus will emerge
Doctor :   in the meantime, try sucking lozenges, which will reduce the irritation and reduce the sensation
User :   and ill swallow
User :   and itll be gone
Doctor :   thats is normal, when you have a pharyngitis
User :   i see, i was scared that it might be throat or oral cancer because descriptions said that one would feel like something is stuck in the back of ones throat
Doctor :   salt water gargling 3-4 times in a day will be helpful, to reduce the symptoms
Doctor :   this is not cancer, as they do not present within 2 weeks
Doctor :   and also does not occur in a 21 yr old
User :   i see
User :   i made an appointment to go to a doctor
User :   would antibiotics be needed/
User :   ?
Doctor :   yes , in case the severity is very bad
Doctor :   and you cannot tolerate it, ..
Doctor :   antibiotics will reduce the duration of the symptoms
User :   i see, i was just freaked out because i talked to a doctor on here and said that hed rule out cancer but hed still suggest id get a FNC?
User :   so it made me very anxious
Doctor :   also, try using clarinex for a few days , they will reduce the symptoms too
Doctor :   FNAC, is not needed in your case, the nodes will subside with treatment with antibiotics
Doctor :   also since the symptoms have just begun within 2 weeks, a trial of antibiotics have to be given before any such intervention is done
Doctor :   if they ahd lasted more than 4 weeks a FNAC would be justified
Doctor :   are you there ?
User :   yes
User :   im just confused
Doctor :   welcome back
Doctor :   why ?
User :   if these same symptoms last for another week, i might have cancer?
Doctor :   no
User :   this will be the the third week this is going on
Doctor :   if the symptoms last more than 4 weeks , it would be a chronic infection and then any inflammatory node needs to be biopsied
Doctor :   this is just a protocol, and does not signify cancer in anyway
User :   also, should i keep using the ear drops
User :   they seem to have made my ears clog
User :   its called Simalasan
Doctor :   try taking clarinex for a few days
Doctor :   that will reduce the symptoms
Doctor :   also use otrivine drops in the nose
User :   i see, so the ear drops
User :   Simalasan
User :   should i continue using them
Doctor :   stop them
Doctor :   the symptoms you have are due to clogging of the auditory tube conencting the throat and the ear
User :   is it normal for my right side to of my throat to hurt more than my left?
Doctor :   it depends on the site of inflammation
Doctor :   the involvement of the specific part of the throat, can cause such symptoms
Doctor :   there is no need to worry
Doctor :   advil, mucinex, clarinex and otrivine along with antibiotics will clear the infection
Doctor :   and you will feel much better
User :   so if one side is more discomforted than the other, it doesnt mean cancer right?
User :   its just what ive read on google
Doctor :   no
Doctor :   thats very nonspecific
Doctor :   and does not indicate cancer
Doctor :   it can occur in any infection
User :   thank you very much
Doctor :   you are most welcome
User :   for explaining everything
Doctor :   just relax
Doctor :   you will definitely not have cancer
User :   i find that the more i read on google the more anxious i get and the more my symptoms
Doctor :   you should not refer more to the internet as more the knowledge you have , more u get anxious
Doctor :   and cancers of the throat are associated with age more than 40 , smoking, intake of alcohol etc
User :   i see
User :   so the weird sensation of inflamation or that theres something stuck in my throat is normal for the infection?
User :   after i swallow it seems to disappear
User :   mucus surfaces
User :   it only happens once in a while
Doctor :   yes
User :   but it's still worrying
Doctor :   that is common with infection
User :   i see
User :   thank you very much
User :   youve really put me at ease
Doctor :   you are most welcome
User :   goodbye
Doctor :   take care and relax
Doctor :   bye for now
User :   thank you. bye
