Doctor :   HI
Doctor :   I am Dr.
Doctor :   Please go ahead with your query.
User :   good morning ! Doctor, My wife who is 35 years old has severe pain in her right wrist.
Doctor :   Since when is she having this problem?
Doctor :   How did it start ? Sudden or gradual and increasing?
User :   since last about 2.5 months. we had consulted with one of the senior ortho surgeon and he had advised wrist x-ray but there was no findings and now he has advised for MRI. to the best of my knowledge it started suddenly.
Doctor :   Is if after an injury?
User :   No. she might have lifted some heavy article but I am not sure
Doctor :   Did it start with a swelling of the wrist joint?
Doctor :   Is it the wrist joint or the adjoining part that is causing the problem?
User :   yes, she had swelling in the joint and the adjoining part.
Doctor :   Is it present even now?
User :   It was little normal couple of days back when she was almost not doing anything with her right hand but now again it has started paining while she had again started doing home related work
Doctor :   What is her nature of job?
Doctor :   Is she advised splinting by the doctor?
User :   she is housewife only. doctor advised crepe bandage but that does not help
Doctor :   Was an Ice pack put immediately after the swelling as part of first aid?
User :   ya, doctor had advised ice massaging for 1 minute 3-4 times a day
Doctor :   Ok, as per your explanation, I think she sustained a minor injury and it has still causing the symptoms because of improper care immediately after the injury
Doctor :   The injury can be to the tendons or the ligaments
Doctor :   The joint injuries commonly progress to a prolonged time and that too for the more usable joints like wrist joint
Doctor :   The immediate care is important for them
Doctor :   like Ice massage and splinting it for a week or two
Doctor :   This is not done in your wife case
Doctor :   Hence the problem still persists
Doctor :   The next thing to go ahead is
Doctor :   1) Splinting for next four weeks with the crepe bandage
Doctor :   2) Physicaltherapy with the help of a physiotherapist shall reduce the pain
Doctor :   3) At least now she should not work with the right one and this will prevent further injury
User :   Ok. thanks a lot Doctor ! just one advise, whether to go for MRI to wait for sometime ?
Doctor :   MRI shall help to locate the minute tears if any
Doctor :   I recommend to go ahead
Doctor :   The treatment may vary if the tear is large
User :   Ok thanks.
