User :   I was sick two weeks ago (cough, fever, chills) "the usual symptoms." I took vitamin C and ate plenty of garlic. However, now I am still coughing up green/yellow mucus and my nose is always runny. My coughs have become dry (So I'm thinking it's possible that I had acute bronchitis) ...or walking pneumonia?
Secondly, as I was examining my relaxed abdomen region, I noticed that in the upper-right quadrant of my abdomen, there appears to be a small (circular-like) lump that moves with the skin. It is almost rubbery and not too hard, but it maintains its shape. Could this be a result of my sever coughing/possible (hernia/lipoma)?
Last, but not least, for some reason I have always had elevated levels of bilirubin. I've gotten my liver checked (UltraSound) , other tests, and nothing was wrong with it (but this was several years ago). After that time, my bilirubin levels are still high and there doesn't seem to be an explanation.
Doctor :   hi
User :   hello
Doctor :   Dr. XXXXXXXX here. let me read what you have typed.
User :   Please do.
Doctor :   the greenish color mucus signifies infection
Doctor :   if it is still coming out, then you should be treated with antibiotics
User :   It has passed, now it's mostly just a dry/persistent cough
Doctor :   the rubbery lump or swelling that you see could be due to the severe cough due to which the muscle at that place could have gone into spasm.
Doctor :   the dry cough can be controlled with few of the home remedies itself like: Doctor :   10 taking 1 spoon honey with pepper powdered and juice of ginger
Doctor :   2)ding warm salt water gargling 2-4 times a day
Doctor :   it will soothe the throat, and give you relief
Doctor :   3) drink warm fluids and get an examination done
User :   Is it possible that a simple virus infection progressed further into bronchitis?
Doctor :   which should include chest and abdomen examination along with chest x-ray, PFT , and ultrasound abdomen
Doctor :   if the immunity was low at that time, it could result in secondary infection with bacteria and cause bronchitis like picture
Doctor :   a thorough examination and a PFT test will tell you what is exactly happening.
Doctor :   also get your liver function tests done again
Doctor :   have you followed what I have said?
User :   Of course, every word of what you have said.
Doctor :   ok. is there anything else you would like to ask me?
User :   Could the bulge in my abdomen be something more serious?
User :   There is no pain either
Doctor :   was anytime complete blood test done for you?
Doctor :   no it would be just a muscle spasm due to excessive cough
Doctor :   once the cough subsides, it should also go
User :   I had a complete blood test completed in December
User :   full panel, lipids, etc, etc
Doctor :   ok, what did the results show?
User :   High cholesterol runs in my family
Doctor :   ok
User :   LDL was 220 mg/dl I believe
User :   elevated...
Doctor :   ok
User :   Bilirubin levels were elevated twice fold
User :   everything else was normal
Doctor :   was any abnormality found in the hemogram test?
Doctor :   did they try to investigate cause for the elevated bilirubin levels?
User :   I believe all were in cell counts were normal, besides one on the borderline
Doctor :   by doing ultrasound for liver, bleeding parameters?
Doctor :   did they check the peripheral blood smear?
User :   no
User :   no bleeding parameters
User :   no peripheral blood smear
Doctor :   if there is excessive destruction of blood cells occuring there will be raised bilirubin levels
User :   I remember when I was young
Doctor :   and this can be made out by doing the above mentioned tests
User :   maybe 6 years ago ( My Bilirubin levels were 4 times the normal) However, nobody could do anything because they couldn't find a cause
Doctor :   now they can find out if they do all these tests.
Doctor :   It seems you have moved out of the chat window. Please log in back if you have medical queries.
User :   Gilbert's Disease?
User :   They believed I could possible have that
User :   possibly*
Doctor :   what makes you say that you gave Gilbert's Disease?
User :   Due to the fact that my bilirubin levels are always increased
User :   The doctor has noticed some yellowing of my eyes as well
Doctor :   bilirubin levels to be always increased can have many reasons, not just Gilbert's disease
Doctor :   yellowing will be there if bilirubin is elevated
User :   What would be your recommendation to completely check all parameters of my liver function?
Doctor :   the tests should include LFT, CBC, Peripheral blood smear, bleeding parameters, kidney function tests, ultrasound abdomen and if indicated with the test results then a liver biopsy.
