Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   Can I help you?
User :   I have a few questions
Doctor :   Yes
User :   alittle about myself. I have seizures, and copd. Here lately I have been having these pin feelings in the back of my neck, and numbness (tingling) on the left side of my face around the mouth area. been losing my balance more now.
Doctor :   To get a better picture I need this information--
Age: ; Occupation: ; Location: ; Marital Status:
User :   Age 44 yrs , have my own business in the house, missouri, married
Doctor :   ok
User :   Don't want to get kids, grandkids and husband upset. Only two of the kids can handle the seizures. but this is starting to be a everyday thing. Nothing has changed in my every day life.
Doctor :   Are you on any medication for your seizures?
Doctor :   Do you smoke/drink alcohol/Any other habits?
If yes how much/how often?
User :   yes lamictal 600 mg a day. yes on smoke 1-1.5 pack daily, drink alcohol about 4 beers a week.
User :   r u still here.
Doctor :   How long since you have been diagnosed with epilepsy? Did your physician tell me what type of seizures did he diagnose you with?
Doctor :   How long back were you diagnosed with COPD ? What are you on for that?
User :   My first was about 4-5 years ago. Never had one before. When I have one I just slide out of my chair or to the floor and the way everybody says is that I look like I am dead. hardly breathing, my daughter is a cna and she had informed the er that she couldn't get anything. but it has been that long. the dr didn't tell me on the seizures, cause they ran test and couldn't determine what type it was. and on the copd i have inhalers I take
User :   copd was diagnosed about 4 years ago.
Doctor :   When did you last check your BP? What is was your reading?
User :   The doctor checked it about 3-4 weeks ago. It was fine. Never had problems with the bp.
Doctor :   When was the last time you had a seizure? When was the last time your anti epileptic drugs were reviewed?
User :   the last time i had a seizures was approx. 5-6 months ago. it was apparently a bad one, i was in a swinging mood hitting the er kept me over night. And it was about a week after that I had blood test done for my ep. meds.
User :   it was all fine. no problem there
Doctor :   When was the last time your blood sugar levels were checked? Was there increase in your blood sugar levels
User :   I don't remember that.
User :   I know in my family history. My nephew just had a year ago, a major surgery on his heart/art/viens they pulled away from eachother.
Doctor :   There are various cause of tingling and numbness like trigeminal neuralgia, a Vitamin B complex deficiency
Doctor :   It could be a part of symptoms of migraine
User :   never had a migraine
Doctor :   It could also be something like multiple sclerosis
User :   i have friends who have them to where they have to go to a dark room and relax. light hurts their eyes, and noise just seems like it a train going by
User :   what is sclerosis
Doctor :   It could also be a form of seizure
Doctor :   What was the level of Lamictal in the blood? What medicine were you on before you started on Lamictal 600 mg?
Doctor :   Have you attained menopause?
User :   before lamictal a neurol. put me on topamax and they had to take me off of it, loss of hair, loss of weight. Yes been thru it had a hysterectomy in 1984. boy that was a shock sweats, cry, over nothing.
User :   been on lamictal for about 3 years now.
Doctor :   When did you attain menopause?
User :   about 4 years after surgery.
Doctor :   You may have a B complex deficiency because of your drinking, you will have to stop even beer.
User :   they tried me on estrogen but it doesn't work with my system. I kept losing weight. like from 130 went down to 100. so they took me off, and tried again a few years later, done the same thing. So as long as I eat good, and stuff excer, I should be fine.
Doctor :   You definitely need to give up on smoking because that is a major trigger factor for COPD and epilepsy
User :   yes i have these pills getting ready to start.
Doctor :   Also it could be a sign of facial paralysis or hemiparesis/ hemiplegia which is paralysis or weakness of one side of the body
User :   but this stuff going on right now, got me worried cause i hate to start something new when other things are going on. Cause then i won't know what is causing it.
User :   So besides i should stop drinking my few beers, and stop smoking. I proably should get it checked out. To whom my primary or neurol.
Doctor :   You need to consult with a General Physician first to get a more holistic approach to your problem and then he/she will refer you to the respective specialist
Doctor :   Since your problem may not be just neurological it is imperative that you visit a GP first
Doctor :   I have to advise you not to delay going there and that you go there immediately for your tests as hemiparesis/ plegia can only be completely resolved in the initial stages
Doctor :   Once you have a complete attack of paralysis you may not fully regain your functions, so I advise you to rush to your General Physician
Doctor :   If its just a B complex deficiency he may prescribe you some supplements
User :   I was wondering if I should be really concern of. I never had the pin feeling on the back of the neck and the numbness/tingling in the face area. i didn't know if this is something i needed to worry about. I am just now getting to live with the seizures. I got that area (ora) how every you spell it. smelling burning rubber, etc.
Doctor :   But you need a complete physical done now
Doctor :   Yes it is something you should worry about because with your history you are at high risk for such a condition
User :   I will call him in the morning and get it setup with him. My doctor is a great one, and if i show up he knows something isn't right. I know my body but soemtimes it plays games.
Doctor :   Dont waste time chatting but rush immediately, dont wait till morning
User :   I should go tonight.
Doctor :   You might consider going to the Emergency Physician now to rule out anything serious and later you can fix up your appointment with your Gen Physician
User :   Ok, now it sounds serious.
User :   Thanks
Doctor :   Is there anything else I can help you with
User :   no thanks have a good night.
Doctor :   Welcome.
Doctor :   Its day here
Doctor :   Bye for now
User :   bye
