Doctor :   hi
Doctor :
are you back?
User :   Yes are you knowledgable of accutane?
User :   are you there?
Doctor :
yes I am here, i was on a urgent pateint phone call
Doctor :
Accutane is a form of vitamin A which reduces the amount of oil released by oil glands in your skin, and helps your skin renew itself more quickly than usual.
User :   okay but i know that but i was wondering if antidepressants or benzodiazepines had any effect on accutane's efficiancy?
Doctor :   there are no known interactions between accutane and antidepressants
Doctor :
but it dose affect teh efficiency of Carbamazepine which is a drug used to control seizures
User :   so if i were on antidepressants or benzos with accutane i have a bigger risk of having seizures then? is that what you mean?
Doctor :
if you are on medicine like carbamazepine or Tegretol, then yes, their efficiency is reduced and chances f getting a seizure is increased
Doctor :
have you followed i have said?
Doctor :
Is there any thing else I can help you with?
User :   ya i think...im currently on xanax and i am probably going to switch to an antidepressant for anxiety and depression. Im also going to be on accutane and i just wanted to know if i could still take my antidepressants along with accutane. But that's all i have to ask thanks
Doctor :   antidepressants can be taken with accutane
Doctor :
but see that you give a gap of half hour between both the medications
Doctor :
there are no known interactions between xanax and accutane
Doctor :   you can continue taking them
Doctor :
in case your doctor decides to prescribe some other tablets for depression
Doctor :
then inform him that you are taking accutane
Doctor :
so that he can give you something that will not interact with accutane and get the efficiency reduced
Doctor :   are you there?
Doctor :
have you followed what i have said?
User :   okay... oh ya one more question....i was given a bacterial infection test and my result came in and all it said was light growth of klebsiella pneumoniae . What is that? is it something that the accutane wont be able to take care of?
Doctor :
it is a bacterial infection, for which you will need antibiotics
Doctor :
Accutane alone wil not be able to take care of it
Doctor :   It is commomly found in the normal flora of the mouth, skin, and intestines, and sometimes it causes infections that are severe and need treatment
User :   ya im taking doxycycline with rifampin for it. is that the treatment for it?
Doctor :   yes, you should continue taking it
Doctor :
Is there any thing else I can help you with?
User :   could that bacterial infection be causing my acne?
Doctor :
yes it could be the reason for your acne
Doctor :
wash face with a non soap based cleanser
User :   okay thank you that's it
Doctor :
and wash with a diluted solution of benzoyl peroxide 4% after cleansing face
Doctor :
use this solution twice a day
User :   thank you
Doctor :
