User :   Hi, I am a 38 year old male who has had 3 lt. ankle surgeries. Needless to say, my last one was 10 years ago. However over the last 6 mos. my pain has really incresed with any prolonged standing walking...etc I just recently had a ct scan of the left ankle and it showed a lot of grey to dark black areas on my ankle bones. Does this just mean it's arthritus?
Doctor :   Hello.
Doctor :   Let me read your query.
User :   hi
User :   ok
Doctor :   Do you have any present symptoms?
User :   I go to my doctor on wednesday to have the results, but I am hand carrying the films and looked at it.
User :   Yea, I have a lot of pain with walking
User :   and standing
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   I also had a nerve conduction study, but it was negative for tarsal tunnel
Doctor :   Does the pain increase/ decrease on walking?
User :   Oh it increases
User :   it hurts like hell when that happens
Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :   Do you have any swelling of the ankle?
User :   Some times, but really not to bad
User :   just pain that starts from the heel and works it's way to the top of the foot
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   I was just really shocked when looking at the ct scan how much dark grey and black their was on the bones
Doctor :   Arthritis is the a degenerative
Doctor :   disease
User :   yea, I am just hoping this doesn't mean fusion.
User :   UnfortunitlyI have bone spurs too, one on the talus and one on the heel
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   I am sorry, not the talus, I mean the tibia
User :   the talus is where the OCD was 11 years ago
Doctor :   Do you have the report with you?
User :   no, just the films
Doctor :   ok.
Doctor :   I'm not a expert in radiology.
User :   sure, I understand
Doctor :   Shall i recommend you radiologist?
User :   not holding you too anything
User :   is that going to cost extra?
Doctor :   Yes.
User :   oh, that's ok
User :   I was just curious what it was I was looking at, that's all
User :   every thing I read, said it was either bone cancer or arthritus
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   and I am confident it's not bone cancer
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   so, just give me your best guess, I am running out of time
Doctor :   It is most probably a case of arthritis.
Doctor :   If you can see a irregular joint lining.
Doctor :   It point towards that.
User :   ok, thanks
