User :   I have a ganglion Cyst about 2cm long by 2mm wide along my tendon below my wrist. It is causing quite some pain and discomfort, and I unable to work with out pain at the computer.
Could it be that it is placing pressure on nerves or tendon and that what is causing the pain.
In my case would removal be the best option going forward?
Thanks in advance xxxxx
Doctor :   hi
Doctor :   Dr.xxxx here
User :   hi
Doctor :   please give me few moments to read what you have typed.
User :   ok
Doctor :   the pain could result due to pressure effect in the location
Doctor :   has it been increasing in size?
Doctor :   are you there?
User :   i have the ultrasound report. There is an elongated ovoid shaped hypoechoic structure, consistant with a ganglion, extending distally and toward the radial aspect of the carpus from the distal dorsal aspect of the scapholunate ligament . Normal appearances of the extensor compartment 1-6 tendons and sheaths with no evidence of tenosynovitis
Doctor :   ok.
Doctor :   when was this done? i mean how long back?
User :   im not sure if it is, although i have to resort to typing and using the mouse with my other hand
Doctor :   if there is pressure on it or continuous friction, the it could be the cause for persistent pain
User :   from my new job, the lack therof in regards to ergonomics of my desktop desktop setup
Doctor :   then try to get it fixed, it might improve your symptoms
User :   my doctor said even with the ultrasound that he recommends physio, as gangion cysts are painless
Doctor :   if they do not improve, then you will need to consider surgery as the last option for pain relief
User :   i have to wait for till next week to see and orthopedic surgon
User :   do you advise I take that route
User :   is it work getting physio in it ?
User :   my docotor doesnt see helpful in diagnosing the cause of the pain
Doctor :   yes you can wait for ortho consult. Take Tab Dolo 650 mg for temporary pain relief
Doctor :   physiotherapy helps when there is no repeated injury to it and when it is not growing in size.
User :   its from repetative straining
User :   RSI
Doctor :   and when there are no other tissue involvement.
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   then physio will not help much. if the pain persists after ergonomics are made right, then consider getting removal done
User :   the doctor mention the cyst is soft and unlikely to create pressure on the nerve of tendon.
User :   i guess i would see him again
User :   but my work sent me to him, as I am out of work as a result of the continuous pain
Doctor :   ok
User :   i will rest it in the meantime, and try not to use it
Doctor :   yes, you can alo give cold compression with ice
User :   take pain tabs, and seek to get it removed
Doctor :   it will help . do it 3-4 times a day
